Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy’s 2021-2022 academic year spring semester graduates capped off at the ceremony held at the Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center

140 students who graduated from the Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy in the spring term of the 2021-2022 academic year received their diplomas at the ceremony held at the Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center.

At the ceremony, which started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, Near East University Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ and Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy Dean Prof. Dr. İhsan Calis gave speeches. On behalf of all the students who graduated, Mohammed Shwan Mohsin Qassab, the top graduate of the faculty, and Dilay Hafızoğlu, the third top graduate of the faculty, shared their feelings.

After the speeches, graduates who received their diplomas, took the oath of pharmacy and threw up their caps with Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy Dean Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış.


Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ: “Make yourself such a mission that you can change the world.”
Addressing the students at the graduation ceremony, Near East University Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said, “When I look at you today, I go back thirty-four years. I was experiencing the same excitement you are now experiencing. I know that you too are experiencing both pride and sadness at the same time.”

Stating that the world is developing and changing rapidly, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ told the graduates to be open to continuous learning and fearless and said, “I know and believe that you will accumulate your own experiences and find your own path in the most correct way. Life and the world will always be one step ahead of you. That’s why you will always be individuals with an open mind, foresight, changing, developing, questioning, criticizing and open to criticism.”

Stating that every profession has its own difficulties, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said, “No matter what profession you are from, you will encounter many difficulties. Perhaps you will come to the point of giving up. Whatever happens, never let go of the helm of your ship. Focusing on the causes of problems makes you a part of these problems. You research the problem and focus on the solution. Set yourself a mission that will change the world. Build a world where you can be proud of yourself by breaking the mold.”


Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış: “I am sure that if you continue on your path by combining science and art throughout your life, you will achieve very good results.”
Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy Dean Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış giving his graduation speech said, “Today is a very special and exciting day for you, our esteemed graduates, the same feelings apply to us as well. Because we are proud of graduating you, who are the product of five years of hard work, here today.”

Stating that education is not just about lectures and books, Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış said, “Of course, you will encounter difficulties. But never be afraid. Education will be a part of your life throughout your life and you will continue to learn constantly. You have to constantly improve yourself and I’m sure you will do it.”

Expressing the importance that the Near East University attaches to art and science, Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış said, “How lucky we are to have a founder who directs science and art and develops everything by mixing it with art. You are just as lucky. Throughout your education life, you have been on a university campus that blends art and science. I am sure that if you continue on your path by combining science and art throughout your life, you will make great achievements. I wish you all a happy and successful life.”


Mohammed Shwan Mohsin Qassab: How lucky and happy we are that we are all together today when we graduate.”
In his speech on behalf of the graduates, Mohammed Shwan Mohsın Qassab, the top graduate of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Near East University, reminded that graduation ceremonies with wide participation could not be held for the last two years due to the pandemic, and said, “How lucky and happy we are that we are all together today when we graduate.”

Saying that he served as the class representative for five years, Qassab said, “Today I have a hard time describing my feelings. Coming from many countries of the world, we came together here for our education life. You have all been my friends during this time, and I am very happy to be able to graduate together today.”

Mohammed Shwan Mohsin Qassab, who said that he continued to work throughout his education life to be a source of pride for his family and to establish a good future, thanked his mother, sister and classmates for supporting him.

Addressing his graduates saying, “From today, we are all pharmacists,” Qassab added that he learned a lot from them throughout their education life, and he expressed his gratitude to all his teachers, especially to Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy Dean Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış.


Dilay Hafızoğlu: “With the qualified education provided by our faculty, we will contribute to public health in the best way.”
Dilay Hafızoğlu, who graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy of Near East University as the third top student, shared her excitement and happiness before she started her graduation speech. Referring to the pandemic period, Dilay Hafızoğlu said, “We once again understood how important the profession of pharmacy is during the COVID-19 epidemic and pandemic we are experiencing. A pharmacist is a person who takes the lead when it comes to public health and tries to do his job with patience and love.”

Dilay Hafızoğlu said, “As a graduate of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Near East University, we will contribute to public health in the best way possible, walking on the paths of science, on the basis of the qualified education provided by our faculty. And, we will move forward with confident steps in the light of the principles and reforms of our Great Leader, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.”
