A Message from the Director of the Institute

Dear teachers and students,

Welcome to the website of the Near East University Institute of Graduate Studies.

As a result of the merger of the institutes of Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Educational Sciences, our Institute, which provides graduate education to nearly 5000 students in 115 programmes, carries out programmes for obtaining master's and doctorate titles with the regulation that came into effect on February 22nd, 2021.

Colleges, as you know, are higher education institutions that give undergraduate graduates the opportunity to earn master's and doctorate degrees. The doctorate diploma, which is the highest degree awarded by universities, is given by institutes.

Master's and doctorate degrees are prestigious programmes that provide undergraduate students with specialization experience in their respective branches.

A doctorate degree is a key that opens the door to the academic world, and also paves the way for individuals to specialize in their own fields. Academicians with this title strive to achieve titles such as assistant professor, associate professor and professor, conduct research and publications, and take an active part in academician training programmes. Therefore, in a sense, a doctorate is a scientific training programme. Universities gain prestige according to the number of people with master's and doctorate degrees.
In our university, the Institute of Educational Sciences began to enroll students in 2000, while other institutes started providing education in 2007. To this day, more than 5000 graduate and doctorate diplomas have been awarded in a total of 115 master's and doctorate programmes.

We would like to express our gratitude to our Founding Rector, Dr. Suat Günsel, who has played an important role in making Northern Cyprus an education island, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, our Rector Prof. Dr. Ümit Hassan and everyone else who has contributed.

We hope that you choose our Institute, which successfully conducts postgraduate education programmes around the world thanks to its experienced and expert staff, and to receive a diploma from our prestigious university.
