Prof. Dr. Rahib H. Abiyev was born on 8 January 1966. After finishing the secondary school, in 1982 he started his undergraduate study at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Chemistry University by name of M. Azizbekov which now is called Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University. Rahib Abiyev received the BSc Degree with High Honours in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. After getting BSc degree he continued his study and in 1989 he got MSc degree in the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. In 1990 he started doctorate study at the above-mentioned university. During the study, he started work as a research assistant in the Research Laboratory of “Industrial Intelligent Control Systems”, and was busy with related scientific and research subjects. In 1997 he finished PhD. thesis and got PhD. diploma in technical science. After finishing PhD. thesis Dr.RahibAbiyev continued work as an assistant professor at the department of “Computer-aided control systems”. In 1999, Dr.Rahib Abiyev started work as assistant professor at the Department of Computer Engineering, Near East University, Northern Cyprus. Dr.RahibAbiyev actively took part in the education process and research activates of the students. In 2002, by the decision of the jury, he has got a diploma of associate professor and started work as Vice-chairman at the Department of Computer Engineering, Near East University. In 2009, by the decision of jury Dr.Rahib Abiyev appointed Professor at the Department of Computer Engineering, Near East University.
Between 2004 and 2009 Dr.RahibH.Abiyev was working as Deputy Chairman and between 2009 and 2014- as Chairman of the Department of Computer Engineering, Near East University. He has published 7 books and more than 200 research papers in the related subject. From them, more than 60 papers are listed in Citation Index List, Web of Knowledge. Prof.Dr.Rahib H.Abiyev was a member of program and organizing committees of many international conferences.
Prof.Dr.Rahib H. Abiyev has founded “Applied Artificial Intelligence Research Centre” in 2001 and the “Robotics” research group in 2008. In 2010 under supervision of Prof.D.Rahib H. Abiyev the “NEU Islenders” robotic football team of Near East University was created. Since 2012, each year, the team takes part in “World RoboCup” competitions.
Dr.Rahib H. Abiyev is an instructor in the field of computer engineering, artificial intelligence, control systems, soft computing, signal processing and algorithms. Currently, Dr. Rahib H. Abiyev is director of “Applied Artificial Intelligence Research Centre” and Chairman of Computer Engineering Department.
