Near East University to host the French rival

In game week 9 of FIBA Euroleague Women, Near East University Women’s Basketball Team is facing the French rival BLMA. With 7 wins out of 8 games and 15 points, Near East University is currently the leader of Group B.

According to the info released by the Near East University Sports Club, Near East University Women’s Basketball Team faced BLMA at Palais des Sports de Lattes in Montpellier, France on 25 October 2017 and won the game 56-80. Today (Wednesday, 20 December 2017), Near East University is facing BLMA again at Caferağa Sport Saloon in Istanbul at 17:30 (GMT + 2). Near East University is still flawless as they have moved to 7 wins after taking a hard-fought 65-72 triumph versus Famila Schio. The team has achieved a very high form and it is in full flow with 5 successive wins. The versatile players of Near East University are currently in high form. The team is leading not only the Group B of FIBA EuroLeague Women but also the Turkish Women’s Basketball Super League.

Team’s play-maker star Courtney Vandersloot with 7.8 APG (assists per game) ranks the first place in assist category in EuroLeague Women. Team’s scorer player Kayla McBride with 17.3 PPG (points per game) is among the top three scorers of FIBA EuroLeague Women. Legendary Ann Wauters with 67.9% of two-point field goals holds the first place. Team’s effective player Jantel Lavender with 57 percentage of field goal shooting is among the top three players in EuroLeague Women. Evaluating their progress in EuroLeague and the game that they will play versus BLMA, Near East University Coach Zafer Kalaycıoğlu stated that they would compete to qualify for Quarter Final Play-Offs. Expressing that they sailed past a challenging road game in Italy versus Famila Schio, Kalaycıoğlu highlighted that they would focus on winning the home games.

Under the helm of Zafer Kalaycıoğlu, Near East University Women’s Basketball Team is currently the leader of FIBA EuroLeague Women Group B with 7 wins out of 8 games. Teams which will rank the first four in each group will qualify for Quarter Final Play-Offs. The 5th and 6th teams will qualify for the FIBA EuroCup Quarter Finals. The winners of the Quarter Final Play-Offs will qualify for the Final Four. The winners of the Final Four will play the Final to win the EuroLeague Cup.
