Near East University Social Research and Development Center organized international training seminars on innovations in science education for teachers in the People’s Republic of China and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in cooperation with Beijing Normal University Smart Learning Institute. Eight topics were discussed in the seminars organized with the decision of the Belt and Road International Science Education Coordinating Committee – BRISECC, which aims at the coordinated development of international science education through comprehensive cooperation between public institutions, universities and schools.

The training seminars organized under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Fahriye Altınay, Dr. Xiangling Zhang, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Tlili were given by Dr. Xiaomei Yan, Specialist Yücehan Yücesoy, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Engin Baysen, Prof. Dr. Murat Tezer, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nazim Kaşot, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Didem İşlek and Assist. Prof. Dr. Başak Bağlam.


Science education plays a big role in developing life skills
Near East University Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Zehra Altınay, who is also a member of BRISECC, emphasizing that science education plays a major role in connecting with life and developing life skills, said that they started a seminar series in the committee with the decision to implement international joint projects in this field. Emphasizing that they aim to contribute to professional development by organizing 8 different seminars within the scope of international cooperation, Prof. Dr. Zehra Altınay said that the topics of new technologies, museum education, disability and inclusive education came to the fore in the seminar series. Stating that they will continue the projects that will produce social benefit in cooperation between countries and institutions, Prof. Dr. Altınay emphasized that the seminars, which were followed with great interest, will continue in the coming period.

Within the scope of the seminars organized, Yücehan Yücesoy from Near East University gave detailed information about new technologies, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Engin Baysen commented on the new approaches in science education. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nazım Kaşot discussed environmental education issues. Prof. Dr. Murat Tezer, on the other hand, held an applied seminar on technologies in science education. Assist. Prof. Dr. Başak Bağlama drew attention to the issue of science education in special education and presented a roadmap for disability and inclusive education. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Didem İşlek, on the other hand, presented an interdisciplinary perspective and project on museum education, technology and disability, and conveyed the foundations of the future joint proje
