2015-2016 Season WBSL Turkey Cup Elimination Group matches were held in Samsun. Teams of Turkish Women's Basketball Super League competed in 3 separate sports halls in 3 groups (A, B, C) in order to be amongst the top 8 teams of the Super League to be eligible for play offs. Competing in Group A, Near East Women's Basketball Team won its first and second matches against Mersin BŞB and Edirne Municipality Edirne Sports and lost the last match despite playing toe to toe against Adana ASKI. Completing the group-matches as the leader of the Group A, the Near East Women's Basketball Team will go into the super 8’s playoffs to compete for Turkey Cup Championship. Women's Basketball Super League (WBSL) 2015-2016 season will begin with matches that will be played on Saturday October 17. The league's two new teams; Near East University Women's Basketball Team and BGD will play the opening match of WBSL in Ankara Sports Hall at 14:00 hrs on Saturday October 17.

Touching upon the significance of winning the leadership of Group A, Coach Alper Durur indicated that he was very satisfied with the team's performance and their combating shoulder to shoulder with team spirit. “Our team has gained a lot of experience during 2015-2016 Season WBSL Turkey Cup Elimination Group matches, which lasted three days in a more different atmosphere than that of preseason friendly matches. Before coming to Samsun for WBSL Turkey Cup Elimination Group matches, we had determined the 8 play offs as our goal. We have fought with all our might and achieved our goal by winning the leadership of Group A after very challenging matches. Our current aim is to play in Euroleague and we are preparing for it as a team. Achieving our goal motivated our team and we are getting ready for Super League matches with this motivation. We are playing our first Super League match with BGD on Saturday October 17, 2015. To play the first match of the league is always exciting. We use this excitement as a motivation source. We will begin our struggle eagerly to achieve our goals; we will use all our strength "he said.
