An Important Reference Book that everyone should read...
Underlining that Aytmatov's works had some elements that were unique specifically to his creative process; NEU Faculty Members stated that when all the novels of Cengiz Aytmatov were probed in, it was seen that cultural values belonging to Kyrgyz Turks had a wide coverage. The Faculty Members underlined that the stages that the country experienced in the historical process were seen to the finest detail in Aytmatov's works.

"Toprak Ana (Mother Earth) novel is one of the most important works of the author reflecting the values of Kyrgyz Turks. When the novel is evaluated from the perspective of historical novel, it is possible to say that the work is much more effective than an ordinary history book describing the Second World War. In his novel, Cengiz Aytmatov established his fiction on historical facts and successfully uncovered the socio-cultural relations in the geography where the events happened. In his work, with a critical understanding of history, Aytmatov also revealed the wrongdoings of some self-benefit- seeking people (Cenşenkul), who stole the seeds harvested by the Kyrgyz villagers and famished them into great poverty throughout the war. This novel, which narrates what experienced in a Kyrgyz village during the Second World War and the negative impacts of war on people, is an important source book for all to read to better understand that period of history” said the faculty members.
