The presentation by Near East University Cyprus Research Centre receives a lot of interest in Sweden

Near East University Cyprus Research Centre, Head of Union of Cyprus Turkish Authors and Academic Member of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şevket Öznur; and Producer-Director, Researcher-Author and Member of the NEU Cyprus Research Centre Eralp Adanır participated in a symposium in Uppsala University-Sweden titled as “International Turkic World Symposium” on Saturday, 30th September 2017.

According to the press info release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şevket Öznur and Eralp Adanır, alongside Folklore Research Institute (Ankara) went to Uppsala University, a university which was established in 1447 and is within the first 100 universities of the universities around the globe, and made presentations.

Co-Chairmen of the 68th International Scientific Event of Uppsala University were Prof. Dr. Lászlo KÁROLY (Uppsala University Head of Department of Philology) and Prof. Dr. Irfan Ünver NASRATTINOĞLU (HKAK General Director).

It was pointed out that Kaya Türkmen, who acted as the TR Ambassador to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), was a guest at this symposium. Furthermore, it was stated that the presentation given by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şevket Öznur, who was invited as member of the scientific board, was titled as “The contributions of Swedish Archaeologists to the Archaeology and Culture of Cyprus” and the presentation given by Eralp Adanır, titled as “Swedish Soldiers of the United Nation Troops in the history of Turkish-Cypriots’ Struggle” had received a lot of attention at the symposium.

The book written by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Öznur and Eralp Adanır on the Literature and Culture of Turkish Cypriots has been placed in the Uppsala University Library...

In addition to the above, it was stated that at the end of the symposium, Şevket Öznur and Eralp Adanır presented their book to on the literature and culture of Turkish Cypriots to Head of Department of Philology Prof. Dr. Lászlo KÁROLY so that it could be taught as part of the Turcology lessons and to be placed in the Uppsala University Library. Furthermore, Öznur and Adanır also got together with the authorities in the Nobel Centre and presented them written and visuals from Cyprus to be placed in the library.
