The Department of Theatre of the Faculty of Performing Arts of Near East University begins the New Academic Year with new projects and new activities

Çetin Özen, the Head of the Department of Theatre of the Faculty of Performing Arts, stated that they along with their staff, who were professionals in the field of theatre, were ready for the academic year of 2018-2019 with new projects and workshop activities.

According to the press info released by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University, Çetin Özen, the Head of the Department of Theatre, delivered information regarding the department and their vision and mission. Mr. Özen underlined that they provided the students with all possibilities and contemporary equipments required for raising high quality artists with a special focus on contributing to the aesthetic values and social life of the society.

Touching upon the necessity of being successful to be eligible to enroll in the undergraduate programs offered by the Department of Theatre, Mr. Özen noted that the curriculum covered not only practical and theoretical courses but also supplementary vocational courses required to train the students on the stage. Underlining their commitment to enriching the training and education of students with innovative and creative approaches, Mr. Özen stated that they had been raising well-rounded performing artists capable to address the needs of the era. He also underlined that they had put the wheels into motion to come up with new projects and workshop activities in the new academic year of 2018-2019.

Resounding Activities have been realized...
Drawing attention to the significant role of the teaching staff, who are all experts in their fields, in contributing not only to the education and training of students but also to their performances on the stage and backstage, Mr. Özen underlined that they had also realized resounding activities during the academic year of 2017-2018. “The Poetry and Music Recital that we organized within the scope of the 27th March World Theatre Day activities has attracted great admiration. Besides, the 10th of our 'Graduation Drama Day', which traditionally takes place at the end of each academic year, was realized at the end of the academic year of 2017-2018. Within the scope of the Day, 'The Glass Menagerie (Sırça Kümes)'; a drama authored by Tennessee Williams, was directed by our instructor Murat Atak and staged by the 4th grade students. The Glass Menagerie (Sırça Kümes) has received great admiration and standing ovation” noted he.

Our Activities will go on in the Academic Year of 2018-2019...
Highlighting the importance of making the preparations come to fruition, Mr. Özen stated that they would come up with new events to put an emphasize on the value and importance of the art form “theatre”. "Theatre activities regarding the 27th March World Theatre Day and our 11th Graduation Drama Day will be realized in the academic year of 2018-2019 as well. To promote the value of theatre in all its forms, we will share all our activities and the joy of theatre with our students, parents and art lovers" said he.
