Adopting science, innovation, research and development as her fundamental mission, Near East University has taken significant steps towards being the leading gear of the artificial intelligence and data science. Artificial intelligence is considered as the most important part of the digital industrial revolution and as one of the foremost innovations to shape the future.

Having being established under the umbrella of Near East University to design and develop innovative projects grounding on artificial intelligence and deep learning, the Applied Artificial Intelligence Research Center has realized many innovative breakthroughs so far. The projects designed and developed by the Center comprises programs for autonomous car, for enabling the people with physical disabilities to use the cursor and mouse with head and eye movement, for manual remote object control, for the detection of epilepsy from brain signals, for the detection of the sleeping mode of the driver in the vehicle, and for enabling hearing people to communicate with people with hearing disability by converting sign language into text. The Applied Artificial Intelligence Research Center also stands forefront with its scholar publications. The Center has published more than 70 scientific articles in 2017-2018 academic year.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University the Applied Artificial Intelligence Research Center, which includes Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Systems, has conducted researches aiming at not only developing artificial intelligent elements, fuzzy logic and deep learning algorithms and other novel algorithms and methods but also using them in various fields including robotics, health, education, signal processing, data communication, modeling and industry.

Artificial Intelligence Programs to Provide Convenience for Accomplishing Medical Treatment and Research Rapidly...
The Applied Artificial Intelligence Research Center has also been carrying out scientific studies on creating and developing artificial intelligence programs that can perform clinical diagnostic procedures in the field of medicine and provide treatment recommendations. The Center has been working on developing novel programs for many scientific fields such as the new universal algorithm and its app on the optimization problems, the identification of many cancer types including thoracic cancers, the diagnosis of Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, dermatologic and liver diseases, the navigation and control of dynamic objects by artificial intelligence methods.

Programs Enabling People with Physical Disabilities to Use Computers, and Programs for the Diagnosis of Chest Diseases and Epilepsy Have Been Developed...
Significant research studies on deep learning and artificial intelligence, which are considered amongst the most outstanding technological developments, are being carried out at the Center, where TUBITAK and BAP projects are conducted as well. Projects regarding "Emerging Trends in Fuzzy Systems: Z-Number Based Fuzzy Systems, Theory and Practical Applications, and Structures in Deep Learning and Their Apps" are conducted under the Helm of Professor Rahib Abiyev.

By obtaining new theoretical results, the use of Z-Number Based Fuzzy Systems in controlling the dynamic systems and the moving robots of Near East University have been accomplished successfully. As a result of this research, the performance of the robots has increased. The other research study on the structures in deep learning have concluded successfully and come out with positive results enabling not only the diagnosis of epilepsy via image processing, but also the use of computer by the people with disability via eye and head movements.

They Aim to Discover Innovative Approaches for Deep Learning...
The Center has been carrying out new research studies on Z-Number Based Fuzzy Systems and deep learning structures. The Center aims to develop novel approaches and provide resolutions for different problems regarding autonomous car and image processing.

Research Results will be Transferred to Undergraduate and Graduate Education...
The information produced by the joint studies and scientific projects carried out at the Applied Artificial Research Center under the helm of Professor Rahib Abiyev will be transferred to research and education programs implemented by their departments.

Results Have Been Published in International Journals...
The results of the projects that concluded at the Center have been published in journals that scanned in international citation indexes such as Web of Science. The results of the theory developed in these projects have been successfully used in controlling Omni-wheeled robots, and in measuring food safety risk level. Within the framework of these researches, 2 PhD and 8 Master's students from Computer Engineering Department successfully completed their theses at the Applied Artificial Intelligence Research Center in the academic year of 2017-2018.
