Asst. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yeniasır, Lecturer at the Department of Turkish Language Teaching of Atatürk Faculty of Education of Near East University, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Burak Gökbulut, Lecturer at the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, had their article on "A Comparison of Turkish and Foreign Students' Metaphors associated with the Concept of Examination" published on the Turkish Online Journal of Educational Technology (TOJET) that powered by international indexes such as SCOPUS, EBSCO, ERIC, and EDUCATION RESEARCH INDEX.
TOJET provides a multi-disciplinary forum and focal point for scholars to present and share their studies on all aspects of educational technology. The overriding aim of this online journal is to provide contribution to the growth of ideas that lead to the improvement of education and learning through educational technology.

In their article, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yeniasır and Asst. Prof. Dr. Burak Gökbulut present a study on the concept of examination and the evaluation of this concept through the perspective of Turkish and foreign students studying at the university. Based on data, the article underlines that the examination concept, which is a part of the students' lives throughout their education that begin with primary education and followed by secondary education, high education, undergraduate and graduate education, has an essential importance for them. The article underlines: “Examinations that take place effectively at all stages of education are often considered as a difficult and anxious concept for many students. Various studies have attempted to reveal this situation. The aim of the examination is to determine the extent to which the education program and the goals that set have been achieved. In other words, it is a basic tool used to determine the relationship between goals and achievements”.
Based on the research results, the article presents information regarding the differences between the Turkish and foreign students' metaphors regarding the concept of examination.
Turkish students are focused on "Education and Examination System" while "Exam-Related Emotions" is the focal point of the foreign students.
It has been observed that the focal point of most of the Turkish students (29.03%) is the "Education and Examination System" category while most of the foreign students (29.21%) are focused on "Exam Related Emotions" category.
The study evaluates students' views under seven conceptual categories titled as Measurement and Assessment, Concepts based on Gender and Religion, Negative Criticism, Life and Education, Achieving the Goal and Getting Outcomes, Exam-Related Emotions, Education and Examination System. Based on the research data, 29.21 percent of foreign students and 25.80 percent of Turkish students that participated in the study reveal negative emotions such as stress, anxiety, distress and excitement regarding examination.
The study concludes that it is imperative to initiate works towards improving the quality of exams within the shortest time when students' exam concerns are taken into consideration. Besides, the study underlines the necessity of providing psychological counseling for students to motivate them in overcoming the negative emotions as well as a careful review of educational policies in general.
