Near East University, which ranks the top in TRNC in terms of scientific citation from its web publications, has taken place amongst top twenty universities in Turkey and amongst top 2000 universities across the globe.
Google Scholar is a web search engine that indexes metadata of scholarly literature and provides information about the most citied online scholarly articles. The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is a system that ranking universities according to their Google Scholar citations profiles. In Webometrics Ranking World Universities list, Near East University with 16.714 Google Scholar citations profile ranks the top in TRNC and it is amongst the top 20 universities in Turkey and amongst 2000 universities across the globe.

2000 universities from all over the world and two universities from TRNC have been ranked in the list of Webometrics Ranking of World Universities list. According to Webometrics ranking, Near East University ranks the top in TRNC, 19th in Turkey and 1321st across the globe with 16.714 citations from its online scholarly publications.
According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of NEU, Near East University, which ranks the top in TRNC, has taken place amongst the top twenty universities in Turkey and amongst top 2000 universities across the globe according to Webometrics which is a ranking system that ranks universities in the line with the number of citations that their web publications received.
Prof. Dr. Fahreddin Sadıkoğlu: "This result is a product of NEU’s research tradition based on long years, support for scientific projects and academic encouragement....."
In his explanation regarding the issue, NEU vice Rector Prof. Dr. Fahreddin Sadıkoğlu underlined that it was not an incidentally result and expressed his views: “It is our 37th year in education. As Near East University, we set a foot on this road 37 years ago and set it as our mission to achieve the highest quality in education and generate innovative, permanent and scientific information to shed light on future. Since our establishment, we have been exerting effort without pause to actualize our goals. Today, Near East University is amongst the top 2000 universities across the globe according to its Google Scholar citations profile. The importance that we attach on generating information with an innovative perspective and the support that we provide for our academicians have a significant role in achieving such a result. Center of Excellence with its affiliated research centers and DESAM (Experimental Health Sciences Research Center) are also important centers established within the body of Near East University to ensure all contributions, support and possibilities for research studies. All these facilities are solid indicators that demonstrate our commitment in generating information through innovative projects to shed light to future.
