On the base of the citation of the scientific studies published by Web of Science, which is a leading online subscription-based scientific citation indexing service, Derin Orhon, Professor at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Near East University, ranked the fourth place in the world ranking of scientists with 9821 citations to his articles on Environmental Biotechnology. It was also stated that Vahid Nourani, Professor at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Near East University, had taken place among the most highly cited scientists with h-index larger than 100 (h>100).

According to the press info released by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University, Professor Derin Orhon with 9821 citations to his scientific publications on "Environmental Biotechnology" had ranked the 4th in the world ranking of scientists listed on the base of the criteria set by Web of Science while Professor Vahid Nourani, another faculty member of Near East University Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, had taken place among the world's most cited scientists with h-index larger than 100 considering his studies on "Engineering" that published in the last decade.

The Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the Near East University, Professor Hüseyin Gökçekuş stated that they felt the right proud of working together with worldwide renowned scientists such as Professor Derin Orhon and Professor Vahid Nourani.

Underlining the crucial role of renowned and experienced scholars in contributing to scientific studies, Professor Gökçekuş expressed his views: "Having the opportunity to work together with such renowned and experienced scholars not only propels the motivation of our academics but also provides contribution to the scientific studies that we carry out together. Besides, it also shed lights on the education and training of our undergraduate and particularly graduate students".

Explaining that the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering had come into service as of April 2018, Professor Gökçekuş stated that the faculty was established on the heritage of the Faculty of Civil Engineering founded in 1992-1993 academic year. "Being committed to quality and excellence in education, we provided our students with quality education in compliance with standards set by national and international bodies. We always attach great importance on innovative scientific studies and ensure all possibilities required for raising well equipped professionals. Currently, students from 37 different countries receive their undergraduate education at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering and more than 130 students receive master and PhD education in pursuit of their career demands. It was not easy to reach the point where we are now, it was an arduous process to achieve quality and excellence in education beyond world standards but we have achieved it. Our devotion to providing opportunity to worldwide renowned scholars to work together to produce precious scientific studies has paved the way towards notable increase not only in the number of our scientific publications but also in the quality of master's and PhD thesis. In this regard, I would like to extend my cordial appreciations to everyone, particularly to Professor Derin Orhan and Professor Vahid Nourani, for their unique contributions to this process" said he.
