Study on Cancer Incidences that carried out by the Near East University Hospital was published in the Turkish Oncology Journal that takes place in the international indexes

Taking into consideration the age, sex, and cancer type, the Near East University Hospital carried out a study on cancer incidences. The study presents data collected from 1782 patients over the age of 15 that diagnosed with cancer and/or received cancer treatment between 2010 and 2014. Within the scope of the study, for twenty-eight types of cancer, rough cancer incidence rates and cancer incidence rates by age were calculated separately in males and females. The study also provides a broad sight on the possible risk factors for the most common cancer types in Northern Cyprus. This study was published in the latest issue of the Turkish Oncology Journal that takes place in the indexes of EMBASE, TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, Index Copernicus, DOAJ, Scopus, EBSCO, Web of Science, Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) and CINAHL.

Qualifying the study as a preliminary work that needs to be taken as a reference, Prof. Dr. Meltem Nalça ANDRİEU, the Head of the Department of Radiation Oncology, stated that the National Cancer Record Program, which aims to collect all data relevant to cancer incidences under one roof within the body of TRNC Ministry of Health, would facilitate it to obtain more certain and accurate results.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of the Near East University, Nuclear Medicine, Urology, Dermatology, Plastic Surgery and other polyclinics involved in cancer diagnosis and treatment under the body of the Near East University Hospital contributed to the study that conducted by Prof. Dr. Meltem Nalça ANDRİEU, the Head of the Department of Radiation Oncology, Dr. Deniz GRANİT, Internal Medicine Specialist, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Evren HINÇAL, Head of Mathematics Department of the NEU Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and the faculty member Nuriye SANCAR. It was emphasized that data acquisition and statistics production process was realized as a result of long-running efforts particularly exerted by Nuriye SANCAR, lecturer at the Near East University Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
