How can I do a lateral transfer to Near East University? What are the lateral transfer conditions?
If you are an associate or undergraduate student at another university, you can transfer to an equivalent or different department at Near East University as follows. Lateral transfers are based on the YÖK legislation.

Lateral Transfer According to the Central Placement Score:
It is a lateral transfer method that is evaluated according to the scores the student received in the year he/she entered regardless of the conditions needed for this success. According to the regulation, students who have been placed at a university in Turkey or the TRNC with a central score and are still registered can apply. The central placement scores obtained in the year of registration must be equal to or higher than the base points realized in that year of the program to which the transfer is desired. It is possible to apply for a lateral transfer to any program with a sufficient base score. Applications can be made in all classes, including the English Preparatory School. Students can benefit from this type of lateral transfer only once. In summary:

  • If the student has been placed in a university in Turkey or the TRNC and is still registered, they can apply.
  • The central placement scores obtained in the year they registered must be equal to or above the base score of the program they want to transfer to in the present year.
  • Starting from the preparatory school period, applications can be made at all levels and for each department with the correct score.
  • Regardless of the conditions for success, lateral transfer can be conducted according to the points obtained in the year the exam was sat.

Students can benefit from this type of transfer only once.

Documents required for application:

  • Student certificate from the association at which the student is registered
  • Transcript
  • ÖSYS Results Document showing all scores.
  • Letter of Application
  • Discipline Document

Is the English Prep School Compulsory?

  • If the language of the department to which the lateral transfer will be made is Turkish, the English Preparatory School is not necessary.
  • If the language of the department to which the lateral transfer will be made is English, and if the student has obtained a sufficient score in an exam that determines their English level, students who obtain a score of 70 or more from the English Placement Exam organized by our university, TOEFL (550 and above) or IELTS (6 and above) are exempt from the preparatory school.
