Robots kick off in Japan….NEUIslanders is on the soccer pitch

NEUIslanders, the robotic soccer team of the Near East University that gone to Nagoya-Japan for Robot Soccer World Cup (RoboCup) 2017, has completed its preparations.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of the Near East University, the team took the pitch at Nagoya International Exhibition Hall (Portmesse Nagoya) and performed a two-hour-training in competition condition. During the training, the acceleration, deceleration and kicking velocities of the robots have been optimized according to the competition requirements. It was stated that the team was not able to perform its final training matches due to the field network system failure.

NEUIslanders will play the opening match with its Iranian opponent

On Wednesday, 26 July 2017, NEUIslanders will take the pitch versus Parsian, the Iranian champion soccer team, for the opening match of the Group B. On the same day, the team will face ULtron, the robotic soccer team of Laval University-Canada.

On Thursday, NEUIslanders will take the pitch again to face first with ZJUNlict, RoboCup champion team of Chinese Zhejiang University, and then with MCT Susano Logics from Japan National Technology University.

NEUIslanders has taken its place in RoboCup for six times successively

Meeting the RobuCupSoccer requirements, NEUIslanders deemed eligible to compete in the Robot Soccer World Cup (RoboCup) for the sixth time. Although some electronic devices were damaged in the cargo during the flight, all damaged ones were renewed with electronic devices obtained from Nagoya in order not to face any problem during the RoboCup 2017.

Up to now, NEUIslanders has waved the flag of TRNC proudly in Mexico, Brazil, China, the Netherlands and Germany. This time, NEUIslanders will wave the flag of TRNC in Japan and represent our country proudly.
