RA 27, which is a fully solar powered vehicle that composed of more than 100 custom engineered parts and produced by NEU's R-D teams as a result of 750 hour joint work, took its place at the Parade Ceremony that held for the 20 July Peace and Freedom Day celebrations.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of the Near East University, within the framework of 20 July Peace and Freedom Day celebrations, RA 27, which is a solar-powered vehicle of technological wonder that produced by NEU, participated in the parade ceremony and saluted the protocol where TR Deputy Prime Minister Tuğrul Türkeş took place as the honor guest of TRNC. RA 25, which is TRNC's first registered solar-powered car that produced by the Near East University two years ago, also participated in the parade ceremony and saluted the protocol and our people.

Issuing a statement, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of NEU, expressed his feelings and delivered information about the solar vehicle. “Today, the Near East family and those who love NEU have lived the pride of double joy. Both of our solar powered vehicles; RA 25 and RA 27 appeared together in the parade ceremony held for the 20 July Peace and Freedom Day. RA 25 is TRNC’s first registered solar-powered car that produced by R&D teams of NEU. RA 25 participated in Sasol Solar Challenge and represented our country successfully in South Africa in 2014. Benefitting from our experiences in Sasol 2014, our fellows, instructors, engineers and students at the Innovation Center worked hard, worked to sweat for months; staying sleepless for days to develop a technological wonder, RA 27, by utilizing from the latest technology. Our new and technological wonder solar-powered car RA 27 will represent TRNC and NEU by racing against world's giants such as Mercedes and Audi at Sasol Solar Challenge 2016 in South Africa.

Sasol Solar Challenge 2016 will be held between September 24 and October 1, 2016. Sasol Solar Challenge, which is an eight-day endurance international solar-car race on challenging routes involving major cities of South Africa, is organized biennially and endorsed by International SolarCar Federation (ISF), and Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).
