Prof. Dr. Refik Turan, President of the Turkish Historical Society, visited the Near East University

Prof. Dr. Refik TURAN, President of the Turkish Historical Society that affiliated to Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History, visited the Department of History of the Near East University.

Accompanied by Prof. Dr. Günay KIRPIK, Vice President of the Turkish Historical Society, Prof. Dr. Refik TURAN paid a visit to Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal ÖZKUL, the Head of the Department of History, and Prof. Dr. Şevket ÖZNUR, the Head of Cyprus Studies Center.

The institutions have decided to cooperate...

Expressing his feelings during the visit, Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal ÖZKUL voiced his honor and pleasure of welcoming the dear president of the Turkish Historical Society that occupies a distinguished place amongst the institutions founded in the line with the directives of Atatürk.

Prof. Dr. ÖZKUL highlighted their commitment to strengthen our civilization with historical awareness by stating that the territory we live in not only housed many civilizations within historical process but also shaped the history.

Prof. Dr. ÖZKUL underlined that both institutions had decided to make a cooperation agreement regarding courses and other respective activities such as symposia, archival studies, historical research studies.

Touching upon the importance of the visit for the Near East University and the Department of History, Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal ÖZKUL provided the President and Vice President of the Turkish Historical Society with information about the ongoing National History Museum and the Near East University.
