The articles, Which were authored by the Head of the Department of Radio TV and Cinema of NEU Faculty of Communication Associate Professor Fevzi Kasap, faculty member Ayhan Dolunay and PhD student Ali Murat Mırçık, were published in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) which is a database containing almost 6000 journals within Thomson Reuters Web of Science.

According to the press statement released by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University, the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) within Thomson Reuters Web of Science published three articles authored by Associate Professor Fevzi Kasap, faculty member Ayhan Dolunay and PhD student Ali Murat Mırçık. These articles respectively address the violence news taking coverage in Turkish main news bulletin and discuss the media-violence relationship, probe into the impacts of globalization on media and assess the settlement of disputes arising public service concession agreements through arbitration.

Violence stands forefront in the emerging new media concept...
The study on Media-Violence Relationship evaluates the emerging new media concept as a tool that guides the everyday life and affects the society from all aspects. The study draws attention to the significant role of economic and political concerns on media and claims that the broadcastings are closely linked to these concerns. The study presents data that the respective concerns stem from ideology, and in this context, violence comes forefront as one of the reproduced concepts during the reproducing process.

Pointing to the great power of television channels in influencing large populations, the study underlines that television channels re-produce violent incidents in the line of their own ideological structures and present them to their target groups.

By analyzing the violence news broadcasted by Turkish main news bulletin by using discourse analysis method, the study presents data showing how violence incidents are dealt with and reproduced.

Globalization leads to alteration-transformation in media and news cycle
The study on the effects of globalization on media highlights that globalization shows itself in many areas and affects the lives of individuals. The study provides data regarding the impacts of globalization on economy, politics and culture and underlines that globalization with its significant effects leads changing and transforming in media and news cycle.

Arbitration for disputes arising public service concession agreements...
Authored by Ahmet Dolunay, lecturer at Near East University Faculty of Communication, the article on "the settlement of disputes arising public service concession agreements through arbitration" presents a study on the public concession contracts concluded between natural and legal persons within the frame of administrative law and private law. The study highlights that such contracts aim to ensure services without bringing high financial "loads" on the administration in terms of technology and labor force and discusses the settlement of disputes arising from these contracts through arbitration.
