Near East University Women’s Basketball team will be competing against Istanbul University in the 18th week of the Women’s Basketball League of Turkey. The match will take place at on 6th February 2016, at 14:00 at Mamak Municipality Sports Hall.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, it was revealed that Near East University Women’s Basketball Team coach İlker Gözeneli, and team members Şebnem Kimyacıoğlu and Yelena Leuchanka made a statement regarding the match to take place on Saturday, 6th February, 2016.

İlker Gözeneli: “We are planning to keep up the momentum we have previously gained as a team!”

Expressing feelings and thoughts regarding the match to be played against Istanbul University Women’s Basketball Team, Near East University Women’s Basketball Team Coach İlker Gözeneli expressed that they were planning on attaining a series of triumphs. It was added that the match played against Orduspor acted as the turning point for the NEU team and that they wished to keep up the momentum gained previously, and in fact improve it. İlker Gözeneli further mentioned that they were achieving better results due to the latest transfers made to the team.

Şebnem Kimyacıoğlu: “Currently, we have attained successful results and we are determined to keep it up!”

Near East University Women’s Basketball Team Captain Şebnem Kimyacıoğlu initially expressed how proud she was to be a member of the Near East University Basketball team and stressed their goals as a team. She added that the team had attained successful results and that they determined to keep it up. She emphasised that they were ready to do their best to win the match to be played against Istanbul University.

Yelena Leuchanka: "I am very glad to be a member of the NEU Women’s Basketball Team once again and I’m ready to do my best in our next match against Istanbul University!”

As a player who has made great contribution to move the Near East University Women’s Basketball Team to Turkey’s 1st League of Women’s Basketball, Yelena Leuchanka is once again a member of the NEU Women’s Basketball Team. In this regard, she made a statement and expressed how pleased and proud to be a member of the team once again and assured that she was ready to do the best she can in the next match to be played with Istanbul University. She said: “I’m honoured to wear the NEU women’s basketball team uniform once again. NEU team is a team that has its ideals and goals. I strongly believe that currently, the team is in a position in the league that it doe not deserve to be due to certain unfortunate circumstances. However, since the NEU team has its ideals, this gives the team an extra motivation to do better, therefore, we are all ready to do the best we can to achieve all the triumphs we need to achieve to shift to a position in the league which our team deserves to be!”
