Near East University will represent North Cyprus at the Lions International Short Film Competition

Near East University Faculty of Communications Department of Radio, TV and Cinema is participating in the 10th Lions International Short Film Competition organized by the International Lions Clubs 118-Y Federation of Managements for the participation of new and young talents in the developing cinema sector.

10th The Department of Radio, TV and Cinema of the Faculty of Communication will represent the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus at the Lions International Short Film Competition, according to the information provided by the Near East University Press and Public Relations Directorate. The gala of the competition, where the winners will be announced and the prizes will be presented, will be held on April 3, 2019 at the İstanbul Caddebostan Culture Center.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fevzi Kasap, Head of the Department of Radio, TV and Cinema, is also taking part in the jury of the competition along with the other well known names from the world of cinema and art. The chairman of the jury is Berhan Simsek, film director, and artists such as Tamer Levent, Bennu Yildırımlar, Mehmet Günsür are among the jury members.

The students of the Faculty of Communication and the academic staff of the Near East University won prizes in the Short Film Competition held in recent years. The Faculty of Communication won the second prize in the "Best Picture" in the 4th International Short Film Competition and the "Best Director" in the 6th International Short Film Competition.
