Near East University takes the First Place among TRNC universities and Second Place among Turkey universities in the field of “Quality Education” in the 101-200 band of “2020 Impact Ranking of World Universities” announced by the Times Higher Education

Near East University achieved a superior success in the "Quality Education" field taking place in the 101-200 band of "2020 World Universities Impact Ranking" announced by the London based higher education rating agency Times Higher Education (THE).

Near East University takes the 2nd place among the universities of Turkey, and the 1st place among the universities of Cyprus...
According to the statement made by the Press and Public Relations Directorate of Near East University, leaving behind many well-known universities of the world in the ranking based on the criteria of education, research, academic resource representation, industrial connections, international vision and teaching quality and including the top universities of the world, took place in the 101-200 band of Times Higher Education 2020 World Universities Impact Ranking". There are 35 universities from Turkey and 2 universities from the TRNC in the ranking. In the ranking, Near East University ranked 2nd among the universities of Turkey and 1st among the universities of the TRNC.

Evaluations were made within the context of UN Sustainable Development Goals…
The list is ranked in line with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals of universities from all over the world. In the list created considering various objectives, universities from around the world are evaluated in terms of Gender Equality, Good Business and Economic Growth, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, Reduced Inequalities, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption and Production, as well as Climate Studies and Partnerships for Goals.

Calling for universal action…
UN Sustainable Development Goals is a call for universal action to eliminate poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people live in peace and prosperity. Creating a list in line with these goals for the first time, Times Higher Education aims to encourage universities around the world to contribute to a better life.

Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel: “Our researcher identity carried us to our goal of ranking among the top 500 Universities Of The World in 2020…”
Stating that the intensive studies and scientific research conducted in the field of improving the quality of education in the recent years have significantly influenced the ranking of 2020 and taking place in the top part of the ranking, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University, stating that they are advancing step by step with the principles and understanding of a "4th Generation University" using its knowledge and experiences for the benefit of the society, said that it is great pride that they are included in the 101-200 band in the field of "Quality Education" among the world universities in the “2020 Universities Impact Ranking” announced by Times Higher Education.

Expressing that universities are centers for developing the potentials of the country in terms of developing information technologies, economy and searching for practical solutions, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel stated that the quality of Near East University, which is closely related to the development of the country with its accelerated scientific studies, R&D activities, innovative products and domestic technologies, has now been accepted globally.

Prof. Dr. Günsel explaining that they are attaching great importance to the number of national and international scientific publications and citation reports of faculty members which are the criteria considered significantly by the organizations, foundations and institutions evaluating and ranking the world universities, stated that they are working together intensely and systematically in order to be ranked in the top of the world ranking lists and to be permanent in these rankings.

Prof. Dr. Irfan Suat Günsel, said, "In2019, in terms of scientific publications journals indexed in international indexes such as Scopus and Web of Science, we ranked first among the TRNC universities and third among the universities of Turkey with more than 1,400 publications of our faculty members and in the number of articles rates per faculty member, and this is the most important indication of our efforts. We will continue to support our faculty members by preparing the training and working environment needed, and by constantly updating our infrastructure and technological capacity. I would like to thank all of our members who have contributed to our success, which is a source of pride and happiness for us. Our university undertakes an important mission in making the name of our country known by becoming one of the best universities in the world with its advanced research centers, laboratories, application units, motivated, innovative and experienced faculty members and all of its units as a whole, as well as following a correct and strong strategic path.
