Near East University is starting “Occupational Health and Safety” trainings certified and approved by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security on four basic issues covering the duties, authorities, responsibilities, rights and obligations of employers and employees, workplace health surveillance, as well as health and safety rules regarding occupational health and safety management issues.

In the statement made by the Press and Public Relations Directorate of Near East University, the trainings will be started on 12 June 2020 at Near East University which has completed the requirements pursuant to the Occupational Health and Safety Law and was accordingly certified and authorized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security to conduct courses on Certification of the Occupational Health and Safety Services.

It was announced that the Occupational Health and Safety trainings to be provided by the University will start on 12 June 2020. The trainings will be given by taking all the measures determined and required by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. As required by the law, Near East University, which has completed its preparations to carry out all the education programs envisaged by the Regulation, with its expert trainer staff and strong infrastructure, will cover an important gap in our country by training qualified and expert personnel in the field of Occupational Health and Safety.
With the trainings to be given, it will be possible to create a healthier and safer environment in the workplaces by ensuring qualified staff to take more place in the working life. Thus, a positive contribution will be made to raising and developing health and safety standards in our country's working life.

Within the scope of Occupational Health and Safety trainings to be given by the Near East University Institute of Occupational Health and Safety, the occupational health and safety trainings will be given under four basic subjects: “Basic Occupational Health and Safety Training”, “General Occupational Health and Safety Specialist Training”, “Construction Occupational Health and Safety Specialist Training” and “Certificate Renewal Occupational Health and Safety Training”. Occupational Health and Safety Training, which includes important issues such as creating healthy and safe working environments, risk assessments, will be carried out by the expert education staff of Near East University.

Stating that the Near East University has fulfilled the issues in the Regulations for Certification and Authorization of Organizations Providing Occupational Health and Safety Services, Aziz Gürpınar, Occupational Health and Safety Program Manager and Occupational Health and Safety Expert, said that the university has been authorized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security to conduct occupational health and safety courses.

Aziz Gürpınar: “The Occupational Health and Safety Law imposes important duties and responsibilities on employers, as well as the state's supervision and sanctions. One of them is to receive support from qualified and expert staff to maintain the performance of occupational health and safety services in the workplaces. The content of the courses for the training of these employees, the qualifications of the trainers to be assigned and many other issues were regulated in the Regulation on Certification of the Staff Providing Occupational Health and Safety Services and the Authorization of Organizations. As Near East University, the application we made by fulfilling all these issues was approved by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security after conducting the necessary assessments and our University was authorized as the Occupational Health and Safety Training Institution to carry out all the trainings specified in the Regulation.”

Pointing out that the pandemic process once more revealed the importance of public health in general and the health and safety rules in the workplace in particular, Gürpınar said that the courses will be started on 12 June 2020. Expressing that they have completed all the necessary preparations to carry out these trainings with the expert trainer staff of Near East University, Gürpınar said that, with these courses, they will be able to take an important step towards creating a safer working environment in our country by training qualified personnel in the field of occupational health and safety.
