With the participation of the University of Kyrenia, the Department of History of the Art Faculty of the Aegean University and Turkish Historical Society, the 1st International Symposium on Mediterranean World Studies is being held on 20-21 October, 2016 at the Near East University Grand Library Hall in Nicosia.

Hosted by the Near East University, the symposium is a two day event focused on studies concerned with social sciences. The symposium aims to provide platform for scholars and academics to debate the latest studies regarding the social sciences and get a closer insight into the issue.

According to the press info released by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of the Near East University, the 1st International Symposium on Mediterranean World Studies aims to provide platform for participants to exchange ideas, evaluate the latest studies conducted in the Mediterranean Basin/World and ensure the flow of new information and documents to Turkey and Cyprus.

The Symposium is chaired by Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul from the Near East University. Prof. Dr. Refik Turan, Chairman of Turkish Historical Society, Prof. Dr. Cüneyt Hoşcoşkun, Rector of Aegean University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel, Chairman of NEU Board of Trustees, take part in the Symposium Honorary Committee .
