Davut Gül, the Governor of Sivas, gave a dinner in honor of Dr. Suat Günsel

Davut Gül, the Governor of Sivas, brought the Near East University graduates living in Sivas together at the dinner that he gave in honor of NEU Founding Rector Dr. Suat Günsel. Prof. Dr. Alım Yıldız, Rector of Cumhuriyet University, Sami Aydın, Mayor of Sivas Metropolitan Municipality, and Prof. Dr. Şenol Bektaş, vice Rector of the Near East University, participated in the dinner as well.

Delivering a speech at the dinner, the Founding Rector Günsel underlined the crucial role of solidarity and integrity with Turkey in moving the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus forward. "We can move forward provided that we ensure solidarity and integrity with Turkey. Our country, Cyprus, is like a ship that can be overturned by strong winds and storms. Anchoring its place strong and not being knocked over by winds or storms is possible only if it is in unity, solidarity and coherence with Turkey. If you can root and ensure the unity with Turkey, then the winds that you might be exposed cannot topple you over. Having been aware of this fact, I came to the conclusion that the only road to this integrity would be a university on the island, and that's how I started. I have never boasted with anything that I have done, I have boasted of the things I have not done. All my efforts are only for the unity of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Turkey, I am dedicated to sparing no sacrifices to ensure and maintain the sustainability of being a whole in integrity” said he.
