Dr. Suat İ.Günsel: The integrity of our universities in Caucasus Geography has gained a global character.

Caucasus University Association, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) based International Association of Universities, and European University Association have a capacity to make further progress.

The 6th Ordinary Congress of Caucasus University Association (KUNIB) was held at Bishkek, the capital city of Kyrgyzstan.

Hosted by Kyrgyz Turkish Manas University, the 6th Ordinary Congress of Caucasus University Association was held with the participation of rectors from more than 100 member universities
The congress provided platform for universities including Near East University from TRNC and other universities from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Nakhchivan to discuss and exchange ideas regarding mutual cooperation in future on scientific and technological issues. Prof. Dr. Yekta Şaraç, President of the Council of Higher Education, participated in the congress as well.

According to the press info released by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University, Prof. Dr. Yekta Şaraç, President of Council of Higher Education (YÖK), and rectors from selected universities made presentations regarding the quantity and quality of academic cooperation. During their presentations, they attached a special focus on considering cooperation between universities as a cultural-scientific policy that would create a positive impact on other relations between countries.

In his protocol remarks, Near East University Founding Rector Dr. Suat İ. Günsel highlighted that NEU, as the leading academic hub in TRNC, ensures quality education in various branches and attaches great importance on large scale international academic cooperation and has signed cooperation protocols with many prestigious universities from Turkey and other countries. Dr. Günsel also delivered information regarding NEU’s vision for the future.

The basic reason of my establishing a university was to ensure the integrity of Turkish Cypriots and Turkey. When we consider the point that we have reached today, we can see the integrity of North Cyprus and Turkey. In this context, I believe that the Caucasus University Association has a crucial role in preserving, strengthening, and maintaining the existing integrity of the geography. The integrity of our universities in Caucasus Geography has gained a global character. Our aim is to evaluate the point that we have achieved in language, culture, art, history and health and to determine our future goals. Undoubtedly, all joint programs, joint projects as well as knowledge accumulation have an important place in achieving our goals. In this aspect, inter-university projects, studies, publications, academics and student exchanges have a particular importance. Caucasus University Association, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) based International Association of Universities and European University Association have a capacity to make further progress.

Following the opening remarks, NEU Founding Rector Dr. Suat İ. Günsel presented Cyprus handicraft Lefkara embroideries to Prof. Dr. Yekta Saraç, the President of Council of Higher Education, and Prof. Dr. Ramazan Korkmaz, Chairman of Caucasus University Association, and Prof. Dr. Sebahattin Balcı, Rector of Kyrgyz Turkish Manas University, respectively.
