
It was announced that Dean of Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering of Near East University Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Gökçekuş, Assoc. Prof Dr Youssef Kassem and Assoc Prof Dr Hüseyin Çamur attended the 10th International Conference of Theory and Application of Soft Computing, Computing with Words and Perceptions (ICSCCW 2019), held in Prague, Check Republic and represented the Near East University via Chairing a Session and two presentations.
According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Gökçekuş, Assoc. Prof Dr Youssef Kassem and Assoc Prof Dr Hüseyin Çamur jointly worked on “Reconstruction of Savonius Rotation in the Artificial Nervous System and Extraction of Electrical Energy” and “Kinematic Viscosity and Biodiesel Density Obtained from Waste Sunflower Oil and Canola Oil Using ANN and RSM:A Comparative Study”. Additionally, it was announced that Prof. Dr. Gökçekuş chaired the session titled as “Fuzzy Logic and Software in Engineering”.

Dean of Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering Prof. Dr. Gökçekuş stated that there were scientists at the conference from all around the world; and expressed his pleasure in finding the opportunity to attend the prestigious and very important conference for two consecutive years. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Gökçekuş Springer published two papers presented last year in SCI publication quality and similarly, the two presentations made this year will be published in Springer as SCI. Prof. Dr. Gökçekuş emphasised that this is important for us to show their personal scientific performances; as well as an opportunity to increase the number of publications made by Near East University.

Their studies were chosen among 250 Articles …
It was pointed out that 120 articles were accepted from the 250 applications to the conference and 52% of the applications were rejected. In this regard, Prof. Dr. Gökçekuş stressed that they were highly honoured and delighted that both their applications were accepted to the conference this year. He said that one of the most important criteria in the success ranking of a university is the number of publications and the quality of publications made by that university. In this context, Near East University is the first among the TRNC Universities in terms of the number and quality of the articles produced by the faculty members in 2018. In fact, it is also third among the universities in Turkey. He ended his words by assuring that the number and quality of publications of Near East University faculty members will continue to increase every year.
