Near East University Disabled Rights Monitoring Committee shared videos it prepared for children with disabilities with families

Weekly videos began to be published by the Near East University Disabled Rights Monitoring Committee (EHIK) to support families with children with special needs during the days of staying at home during the COVID-19 pandemic affecting the whole world.

According to the information provided by the Press and Public Relations Directorate of Near East University, the videos prepared and uploaded weekly by Assist. Prof. Dr. Başak Bağlama, Lecturer of Ataturk Education Faculty, Department of Special Education and member of Disabled Rights Monitoring Committee, can be accessed by registering through the Near East University Open Courses Platform https://open-courses.neu.edu.tr/kayitregister.pdf.

President of the Near East University Disabled Rights Monitoring Committee (EHİK) Prof. Dr. Zehra Altınay stated that, like us, children with special needs also have important duties to overcome this process, which can sometimes be challenging. Launching this project at the Disableds Week is an important step in contributing positively to the lives of individuals with special needs and their families.

Prof. Dr. Fahriye Altınay reminding that the Disabled Rights Monitoring Committee organized under guidance of Vice Rector of Near East University, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, stated that Near East University, which takes both social and scientific steps, will continue its studies in this direction. In this context, Prof. Altınay stated that the faculty members taking place at the Committee work with devotion in the sense of monitoring and supporting the rights of disabled members of the society. Prof. Dr. Altınay said that, as EHİK, they organize the "Universal Rights Monitoring" event, which covers the monitoring of the rights of persons with disabilities at an international level. In the continuation of her words, she emphasized the necessity of increasing professional development and guidance services for families. Prof. Dr. Altınay stated that it is open to everyone to benefit from educational seminars held for the society.

Moderated by Prof. Dr. Fahriye Altınay and Prof. Dr. Zehra Altınay, the opening speeches of the Universal Rights Monitoring event participated by academicians and opening speeches of the event delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dudu Özkum, and Assoc Prof. Dr. Nazım Burgul, and presentations were made by Prof. Dr. Vahap Tecim, Prof. Dr. Ebba Ossiannilsson, and Assist. Prof. Mustafa Ozhan Kalaç.
