Near East Angels defeated Hatay Angels at the away match

Near East University Women's Basketball Team played a very challenging away match versus Hatay Büyükşehir Belediyespor in the seventh week of Turkish Women's Basketball Super League (TWBSL). After a head to head struggle, NEU Women's Basketball team achieved to outscore in the second overtime and left the court as the winner of the match with a score of 99-104.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of NEU, the Near East University Women's team completed the first period 1 point ahead its opponent by a score of 15-16. However, due to the strong attacks and NEU's bad defence and rebounding in the second period, the opponent outscored by a score of 37-33. With the shots of NEU's scorer players and good defense, the third period resulted as a tie by a score of 53-53. The score was still tied as 74-74 at the end of the play. The teams played two five-minute overtime periods. The first overtime period resulted as a tie by a score of 88-88. In the second overtime period Near East University Women's Basketball Team with the shots of the scorer players achieved to outscore and leave the court as the winner of this challenging match by a score of 99-104.

For the first time, a match of NEU Women's Basketball Team has been broadcasted live by TRT Sports. İlker Gözeneli, Director the General of NEU Women's Basketball Team, extended his appreciations to TRT Sports team prior to the match. "We were very pleased with the live broadcasting. The sports fans and our supporters, who couldn't come to the match, will be able to watch the match live on TRT Sports channel" said he.

Tiffany Hayes with 29 points was the top scorer player of the team

Tiffany Hayes, who became the top scorer player of the team with 29 points, followed by Kelsey Bone with 23 points and Ana Dabovic with 18 points. Wearing NEU's uniform for the first time, Simay Karaman scored 14 points and played a crucial role in the win.

Stevens Hurt was the top scorer player of Hatay Büyükşehir Belediyespor with 33 points. Hurt was followed by Bahar Öztürk, who was ejected from the game due to two flagrant fouls, with 22 points and Anna Vajda with 14 points.
