Mevlana’s 748th anniversary events were held in cooperation with Near East University Rumi Research Institute and Nicosia Yunus Emre Institute

Hosted by the Rumi Studies Institute of Near East University, commemoration ceremonies were held for the 748th anniversary of Mevlana with the cooperation of Nicosia Yunus Emre Enstitüsü. On the first day of the event held in Near East University Grand Library Prof. Dr. Ümit Hassan Hall, besides the panel, a mystical music concert and sema ceremonies were held. Near East University Rumi Research Institute President Prof. Dr. Ghadir Golkarian, Head of Department of Eastern Languages and Persian Literature of Kırıkkale University, Prof. Dr. Adnan Karaismailoğlu, Head of Persian Language and Literature Department of Konya Selcuk University and former director of Mevlana Research Institute, Prof. Dr. Ali Temizel and many academicians and students attended the event. At the end of the program, a plaque of appreciation was presented to academics and artists from Turkey.

Prof. Dr. Ghadir Golkarian: “Mevlana gave importance to fidelity, love, self-sacrifice, righteousness, and virtue above all else.”
Near East University Rumi Studies Institute President Prof. Dr. Ghadir Golkarian stated that Mevlana attached importance to loyalty, love, self-sacrifice, truth and virtue above all else, and drew attention to the teaching of trusting in today’s conditions, especially during the pandemic process. Reading Persian poems from Mevlana’s Masnavi, Prof. Dr. Ghadir Golkarian emphasized that tawakkul is a religious and spiritual literature not only to submit to compulsive thought and passivity, but also to put reliance on God by working and striving.

Kırıkkale University, Head of the Department of Eastern Languages and Persian Literature, Prof. Dr. Adnan Karaismailoğlu stated that Mevlana is the source of spirituality, not only to the people around him, but also from Islamic literature, especially the Qur’an and the Prophet. Based on the sunnah of the Prophet, he stated that it was to instill spirituality in people and to raise perfect people.

Konya Selcuk University, Head of Persian Language and Literature Department and former director of Mevlana Research Institute Prof. Dr. Ali Temizel talked about the personality and spiritual personality of Mevlana and expressed the conditions of loyalty, honesty and being a right person, and that one of the necessities of human life by examples from the Masnavi.
