Major General Yıldırım, Brigadier General Algan and Brigadier General Volkan visited Five Exhibitions, which are on display at Near East University

Having been organized by the Cyprus Turkish National History Museum and Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, 5 exhibitions are currently being displayed at four different venues at Near East University. The Commander of the Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces, the Commander of the Security Forces along with the Deputy Commander of the Security Forces paid a visit to Near East University and toured the exhibitions.

The Commander of the Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces, Major General Yılmaz Yıldırım, the Commander of the Security Forces, Brigadier General Tevfik Algan, and the Deputy Commander of the Security Forces, Brigadier General Volkan Akın visited 5 exhibitions including the exhibition themed 'Turkish Cypriots National Struggle Through Photographs' that organized by the Cyprus Turkish National History Museum and the painting exhibitions of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Bashkortostan and Tatarstan artists that organized by the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts.

The Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University released that the Founding Rector Dr. Suat İ. Günsel, vice Rector Professor Fahreddin Sadıkoğlu, the Founding Chairman of the Board of the Cyprus Turkish National History Museum and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Professor Ali Efdal Özkul, and Görkem Bulunç, the acting Director of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, accompanied the Major General Yılmaz Yıldırım, the Brigadier General Tevfik Algan, and the Brigadier General Volkan Akın during their visits.

They examined the Works of Art curiously...
Within the scope of their visit, the commanders first visited the exhibition titled 'Painting Exhibition of Kazakh Artists' at the Exhibition Hall of Near East University Hospital. They have admired the exhibition consisting of 40 paintings specially prepared for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts by 5 talented Kazakh artists, three of whom bear the title of state artists.

Then, the commanders visited the İrfan Günsel Congress Center where 190 photos of 50 photographers are exhibited under the theme of 'Turkish Cypriots National Struggle through Photographs’. All photos at the exhibition are specific to the Turkish Cypriot people's struggle for existence and freedom.

The commanders were provided with detailed information about the photographs depicting old military positions, trenches, historical places, streets, tools and equipment that used during the years of national struggle.

Then, the commanders paid a visit to the exhibitions displayed at the Cyprus Arts Center at Atatürk Culture and Congress Center (AKKM) under the titles of 'Panting Exhibition of the Republic of Bashkortostan Artists' and 'Painting Exhibition of Turkmenistan Artists'. The exhibitions, which consist of 35 artworks of 5 Bashkortostan artists and 40 artworks of Turkmen artists, attracted great interest of the visiting delegation. The delegation last visited the Exhibition Hall at the Faculty of Communication where 40 paintings of 5 Tatar artists are exhibited under the title of "Painting Exhibition of Tatarstan Artists".


Major General Yıldırım: "Museums and Exhibited Artworks are impressive..."
Expressing his views regarding his visit, the Commander of the Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces, Major General Yılmaz Yıldırım stated that the artworks at the exhibitions were impressive and very significant in terms of shedding light for young generations. Underlining that the young generations need to know their past and history well before setting out to explore the future, the Major General Yılmaz Yıldırım stated that the exhibition titled 'Turkish Cypriots National Struggle through Photos' that organized by the Cyprus Turkish National History Museum was very significant in that aspect.

Turkish Cypriot Culture and Art will be conveyed to international dimensions...
Highlighting the crucial role of all activities carried out within the objectives of Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts and Cyprus Turkish National History Museum in introducing Turkish Cypriot culture and art to wider populations by relocating it with international dimensions, Near East University Founding Rector Dr. Suat Günsel underlined their commitment to ensuring the collection, preservation and recording of the entire cultural and artistic heritage of our country and conveying this heritage to the history of future.
