
Graduates, who completed the master's degree and doctoral degree programs offered by the Graduate School of Social Sciences, Graduate School of Applied Sciences, Graduate School of Educational Sciences and Graduate School of Health Sciences of Near East University in 2018-2019 academic year spring term, received their diplomas with a collective ceremony held in Near East Primary School courtyard.
The Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University released that the graduation ceremony was realized with the participation of Özay Günsel Children's University Rector Professor Filiz Meriçli, Near East University vice Rector Associate Professor Mustafa Kurt, vice Rector of the University of Kyrenia, deans, graduate schools directors, faculty members, graduates and their families.
The graduation ceremony began with a moment in silence in memory of Great Turkish Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Turkish Cypriot leader Dr. Fazıl Küçük, TRNC Founding President Rauf R. Denktaş and all martyrs and followed by the national anthem. Then, the participants experienced joyful moments with the music recital performed by the Department of Music Teaching of Near East University.
The opening remarks were delivered respectively by Graduate School of Applied Sciences Director Professor Nadire Çavuş, NEU vice Rector Associate Professor Mustafa Kurt, Dr. Selin Uzelaltınbulat (on behalf of Turkish speaking graduates) and Nuhu Abdulhaqq Isa (on behalf of foreign graduate).

Expressing that graduate schools are educational institutions allowing graduates to build up an advanced academic and professional career through a myriad of graduate programs, Professor Nadire Çavuş underlined NEU's commitment to continuing to offer high quality master's degree and doctoral degree programs to accommodate the demands of graduates, who are in pursuit of establishing a cutting-edge career over the others. "The graduate programs offered by our graduate schools are prestigious programs well-designed to open up a whole new world of opportunities for graduates willing to achieve a good professional career and establish a competitive edge over the others by gaining experience of specialization in their respective fields" noted she.
Stating that the number of students graduated from undergraduate programs and graduate programs of a university brings prestige to that university, Professor Çavuş highlighted that the greatness of Near East University was not only numerical and physical. "Near East University stands forefront as a leading educational institution offering quality programs beyond the standards set by national and international bodies. Our graduate programs, all of which are approved by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and the Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YÖDAK), provide a wide range of opportunities for students to specialize and expertise on specific subjects through cutting-edge education. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt: "Our goal is to be amongst the world's top 500 universities..."
In his opening remarks, Near East University vice Rector Associate Professor Mustafa Kurt delivered information regarding the university and noted that Near East University, as a 4th generation university, adopted 4.0 industry model and produced science to market the information acquired through innovative scientific studies.
"As a 4th generation university, Near East University uses all her capacity and potential for implementing smart systems during the whole education and research period.
As of 2018, more than 1200 articles of faculty members of Near East University were published by prestigious journals scanned by Web of Science and Scopus, the largest abstract and citation databases of peer-reviewed literature covering tens of thousands research topics across all scientific disciplines. Considering the number of scholar publications, Near East University ranks the 3rd place amongst universities in Turkey and the top amongst the private universities. We also have three applications for patent. We feel the right pride of this. Our university will continue to work and produce. Our goal is to be amongst the world's top 500 universities. With a great possibility, we will have achieved this goal by next year. It is a great success to be in the top 500 among tens of thousands of universities in the world. We have determined our way, we will continue like this. We will continue to produce and lead” said he.
She feels the pride of being a graduate of Near East University...
Speaking on behalf of Turkish speaking graduates, Ph.D. Selin Üzelaltınbulat, graduate of the Department of Computer Engineering Graduate School of Applied Sciences, expressed her pride of being a graduate of Near East University.
“I have completed my undergraduate, master and doctorate education at the Near East University. Today, I am experiencing the proud and happiness of the decision, I made 13 years ago, regarding to receive my higher education here. I would like to thank to the Founding Rector Dr. Suat Günsel, NEU Board of Trustees Chairman Associate Professor Irfan Günsel, NEU vice Rector Professor Fahreddin Sadıkoğlu and my parents for all their contributions. I sincerely congratulate everyone who graduated under the roof of such contemporary, innovative, leading, science-producing university, Near East University. I wish your path will always be open; science will always be your guide. We are proud because we are from Near East” noted she.
Then, Nuhu Abdulhaqq Isa, graduated from Biomedical Engineering master's degree program offered by the Graduate School of Applied Sciences delivered a speech on behalf of foreign graduates.
Following the speeches, Mutlu Atasayan, Former Minister of National Education and Culture, presented his diploma to his son Ahmet Atasayan who graduated from the Graduate Program offered by the Graduate School of Educational Sciences. Seram Ince, Higher Education Inspector, presented her diploma to his sister Seçil Besim, who graduated from PhD education program offered by the Graduate School of Educational Sciences. Then, the faculty members delivered their diplomas to all graduates. Upon receiving their diplomas, the graduates experienced the graduation joy by throwing their caps.
