Effective Communication Inservice Training Programme for the Prime Ministry Staff has been initiated by the President of TRNC at the NEU

As part of the framework of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Ministry Inservice Training Programme, organised by the NEU Near East Institute and Life Long Learning Centre, the training programme has been initiated by the Prime Minister of TRNC, Ömer Kalyoncu.

According to the press info release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, the Inservice Training Programme is held at the helm of NEU Department of Marketing, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ertugan. The training programme is expressed to be a short term programme and is aimed at effective communication both within and across institutions.

It was revealed that the Prime Minister of the TRNC had made an opening speech at the opening ceremony of the training programme, where participants will be awarded certificates upon completion. Kalyoncu pointed out that it was highly significant for people to be equipped with effective communication skills while working as part of an institution. He added that this led to satisfaction to both the providers and receivers of the service. He also emphasised that they wished to facilitate better productivity at institutions through attaining a balanced workload between public servants, which in return will provide the base for better relationships between the public servants and the public.

Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University, Assist. Prof. Dr. Murat Tüzünkan also made a speech at the opening ceremony, expressing his strong belief that the cooperation between the government and the university should continue, providing inservice training programmes to constantly make improvement to the service and skills of staff. He further expressed that as the Near East University and as the Near East Family, they were ready to provide and share their knowledge and services accumulated over the past 35

years since the foundation of the university and pointed out that they perceived acquisition of knowledge essential throughout one’s life. Tüzünkan added how happy they were to be a part of such a task, targeted at training staff to provide service quality and expressed gratitude to government authorities for prioritising and valuing inservice training to staff as this would lead to a greater awareness for people working in institutions under the body of the state as a whole.

Also making a speech Head of TRNC Prime Ministry Staff, Metin Karaderi, stated that the current inservice training programme was being organised as part of their Inservice Training Programmes Framework. Metin Karaderi emphasised that Prime Minister Ömer Kalyoncu showed special interest to educational and inservice programmes since he believed in the necessity and benefit of these and added his gratitude to everyone involved, including the Near East University for realising the programme.

Making a statement regarding the matter, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Umut Koldaş, Head of Near East Institute, and expressed that Near East University valued efforts to facilitate personal and institutional programmes which develop and improve the quality of individuals, alongside services provided by institutions. In this regard, he reemphasised cooperation between academicians and the public servants, who represent the Cyprus Turkish community both in national and international services, thus creating a contemporary public administration. He ended his words by pointing out that throughout the 2015-2016 academic year, the Near East Institute provided 51 short-term training programmes through the help and support of the competent academic staff of the NEU, and that both the Near East Institute and NEU Life Long Learning Centre aimed at continuously providing similar programmes for both individual and public development and improvement.
