Education for All, Barrier Free Tourism and Life Workshop has started at Near East University

Organized cooperatively by Near East Institute, NEU Tourism Research Center and NEU Societal Research and Development Center, which are affiliated with Near East University Center of Excellence, ‘Education for All, Barrier-Free Tourism and Life Workshop’ has started at NEU Hospital Hall 101.

Meral Akıncı, spouse of TRNC President Mustafa Akıncı, Fikri Ataoğlu, Minister of Tourism and Environment, Hamza Ersan Saner, Minister of Labor and Social Security, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irfan S. Günsel, Chairman of NEU Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, NEU Vice Rector, Ilker Edip, Mayor of Beyarmudu, Hasan Sadıkoğlu, Mayor of Iskele, officials from state organizations and institutions located in TRNC and Turkey, local officials, representatives from NGOs and universities, students and citizens attended the opening ceremony of the workshop.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irfan S. Günsel: No Barrier can stop the confident and free brains and hearts that devoted to the goal of removing the barriers.

Touching upon the importance of the workshop, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irfan S. Günsel, Chairman of NEU Board of Trustees, underlined that they, as Near East University, had been exerting effort without pause to pave the way for a barrier free society in all areas in Cyprus. “No barrier can stop the confident and free brains and hearts that devoted to the goal of removing the barriers. In order to remove the barriers in all areas of our lives by using education in an effective and systematic manner and to build up the barrier free future of our country in the light of education, we are actualizing a very significant workshop all together. I would like to take this opportunity and extend my thanks to those who contributed” said he.

Tourism and Environmental Minister Fikri Ataoğlu: All people regardless their physical limitations, disabilities or age will be able to benefit from tourism services and holiday opportunities when we leverage the barrier-free tourism in our country.

Labor and Social Security Minister Hamza Saner: Education is a must to overcome the obstacles in social life.

Meral Akıncı: More and better opportunities should be ensured for people with disabilities in our country to enable them to involve in social, economical and cultural life more actively.
