The Chairman of Badminton Federation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Fırat Deniz, along with Seymen G. Deniz and Eren Özuyanık, two national badminton players of Near East University, paid a visit of thanks to NEU Board of Trustees Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan Günsel in recognition of his support to them.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of the Near East University, during the visit, the two national athletes, who are also the athletes of Turkish National Badminton Team, bestowed a national team form which bears the name of İrfan Suat Günsel on it, to NEU Board of Trustees Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan Günsel.

The Chairman of Badminton Federation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Fırat Deniz, presented a plaque to Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel, and on behalf of the federation, he extended his thanks to him in recognition of his support to country's sports in general and to badminton sports in particular.

Touching upon the important role of sports in gaining qualities of the leadership, sharing, team spirit and tolerance, Near East University Board of Trustees Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel underlined the key role of doing sports in maintaining physical stamina, disciplined and programmed lifestyle adding that engaging in sports is a great way to get rid of stress.

Congratulating Seymen and Eren for their achievements in the World Badminton Tournament held in Bulgaria, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel wished success for them in the World Badminton Championship to be held on 13 December 2017. He also voiced his belief that both athletes would be more successful by winning better points in spite of their young ages.
