As part of a doctorate thesis at the Department of Computer and Educational Technologies of Near East University, a software which aims to help and improve the understanding of concepts in mentally disabled students, developed by Emrah Soykan, and is designed to be used on tablets was itroduced.

According to the press info release by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, as the result of eight months of effort to develop the software, the software which was particularly developed for the mentally disabled students “Concept World” was introduced at an introduction day.

It was revealed that academic members, representatives from non-governmental institutions, teachers and students had attended the introduction day and that the opening speech of the event was made by Head of NEU Department of Computer and Educational Technologies, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fezile Özdamlı. In her speech, she expressed that this software had significance since it was exemplar both academically and in terms of usage in the field of educational technology. Furthermore, she expressed that this software was also important since it raised awareness regarding use in special education. She thanked everyone for attending the day and congratulated her student, Emrah Soykan, for successfully completing such an important and beneficial software.

It was revealed that software developer Emrah Soykan made a presentation, expressing the phases of software development and its educational features. Then, a tablet was used to demonstrate educational uses which had been closely observed by the attendees of the introduction day. Subsequently, images of fruitful moments taken during the use of the software by teachers and students were shown. At the end of his presentation, Soykan expressed gratitude to special education centres and their teachers, thesis advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fezile Özdamlı, Dean of Atatürk Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Uzunboylu and to all authorities of Near East University for continuous support for actualising the development of the software.
