A Significant Visit to the UCCTEA Chamber of Civil Engineers from the Department of Civil Engineering of Near East University

Within the frame of the protocol that previously signed between Near East University Civil Engineering Department and the Chamber of Civil Engineers that affiliated to the Union of Chambers of Cyprus Turkish Engineers and Architects (UCCTEA), NEU Department of Civil Engineering paid a visit to the Building Materials and Soil Mechanics Laboratory. The protocol that signed between parties covers terms and provision to ensure professional and academic progress by institutional reciprocal support and share of the possibilities such as labs that the parties own.

According to the press info released by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University, the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, Professor Hüseyin Gökçekuş along with a group of lecturers visited the Chamber of Civil Engineers Mehmet Göze (Asi) Building Material and Soil Mechanics laboratory which has been accredited recently.

Reciprocal Support for Conscious Engineering Works will be provided
During the visit, both the Chairman of the Chamber of Civil Engineers, Gürkan Yağcıoğlu and Professor Hüseyin Gökçekuş highlighted the necessity of institutional reciprocal support and the share of available possibilities such as lab facilities for professional and academic success. Besides, they gave a clear message for the continuation of the prospective conscious engineering works.

Highlighting the crucial role of the efficient use of all available means in providing plus value to our country, the Head of NEU Department of Civil Engineering, Professor Hüseyin Gökçekuş stated that almost 200 students enrolled in the Master's degree and Doctorate degree programs offered by the Department of Civil Engineering. "Within the frame of the protocol, the parties can use the possibilities available at Near East University and the Chamber of Civil Engineers. The effective use of all facilities available in the body of each party will provide plus value to our country. Alongside the possibilities of our university, we want to benefit from the possibilities of the Chamber of Civil Engineers and we are ready to offer our possibilities in the use of the members of the chamber" said he.

Expressing his satisfaction due to the visit of the Department of Civil Engineering of Near East University, the Chairman of the Chamber of Civil Engineers, Gürkan Yağcıoğlu stated that the protocol set terms for strong collaboration on scientific, social, academic, professional and educational issues between the parties. Mutual support, strong collaboration and utilizing from labs will ensure professional and academic benefits. Upon submitting an application to the chamber, it will be possible to utilize from the technical equipment of the chamber on the date to be appointed by the laboratory supervisor” said he.

Following the remarks of the chairpersons, the lab supervisor Enver Toker delivered information about the procedures performed with laboratory instruments. The visit ended after having a photo taken all together.
