Prior to having a break in Turkish Women's Basketball Super League due to the national team matches, the Near East Angels played a very challenging away game versus Istanbul University women's Basketball Team and left the court victoriously with a significant score of 71-70.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University, the Near East University Women's Basketball Team, which won 3 of the first 4 matches of the league and had a good start, played a very challenging away match versus Istanbul University Women's Basketball Team. NEU completed the first period 3 points ahead its opponent by a score of 24-21 and with the shots of the scorer players achieved to outscore and completed the first half by a score of 41-37. Despite outscoring 15 points in the middle of the third period, NEU completed this period leading 3 points by a score of 58-53. The last period of the match was very challenging owing to the efforts of both teams to dominate and win the match. NEU Women's Basketball Team fell 1 point behind its opponent when there was only 16 seconds to the final whistle of the match. The coach had a timeout. Returning from the timeout, Kelsey Bone, the scorer player of NEU, shot a 2 point basket in the last 3.7 seconds of the match and NEU won the match with a crucial score of 70-69.

Alper Durur: "Achieving our first away win was important"

At the press meeting held after the match, NEU coach Alper Durur expressed his thoughts regarding the match. "It was a very important match for both teams, I was very satisfied with the result. Istanbul University Women's Basketball Team is one of the most assertive teams of the super league. From this aspect, winning such an important away much was very significant. Compared to our previous matches, in this match we have exhibited a better performance in defense. I can say that we won the match due to the high performance of our players in defense. After the break for national team matches, we will be a complete team playing with team spirit with a much better defense” said he.

Addressing to press members, Erhan Ayaz, Manager the General of Near East University Women's Basketball Team, stated that the team exhibited a much better performance in the defense when compared to the previous matches. The offensive capacity of the team is already very high. We have extremely satisfied with the concentration and determination of combating that our team exhibited at times during the match. It was very significant to fight head to head with the opponent without falling behind in score and in performance. As the coach Alper Durur said, we will be a much better team after the break. Asena Yalcın: "We achieved a significant win prior to the break, we are extremely happy"

Talking to the press after the match, the point guard Asena Yalcın stated that the team was aware of the fact that it was going to be a challenging match. We won the match by a close score although we were 15 points ahead the opponent in the middle of the third period. This outscore might have led us to lose our concentration for a while, however, we achieved to win. The fans watched an enjoyable and exciting match. This match is an indicator that we are becoming more resistant in defense day by day. We are extremely happy of being the winner of a very challenging away game prior to the break for national team matches" said she.
