Organised by the Near East University Experimental Health Sciences Research Centre (EHSRC), the 2nd EHSRC Science Awards were presented to owners via a ceremony and 74 scientists were presented awards.

According to the press info release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, EHSRC Science Awards were given under three categories “Scientific Publication Award”, “Young Researcher Award” and “Young Researcher Honours Award”. It was pointed out that the awards were given to a total of 74 scientists from the fields of Health Sciences, Social Sciences and Sciences.

It was stated that the ceremony for the 2016 EHSRC Awards were held at Hall 4 of Near East University Grand Library. The ceremony was said to begin by speeches made Vie Rector and Head of EHCRS Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ and by Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel. Subsequent to the speeches, a celebrity from Turkey, who’s also an Academic Member of Faculty of Stage Performing Arts Cihan Ünal, accompanied by Pianist Atakan Sarı gave a mini concert and poem recitation. This was later followed by the presentation of the awards to the owners.

In his speech, Vice Rector of Near East University and Head of EHSRC, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, expressed that throughout history, since days of Greek Philosophers Plato to Aristotle, to current day developing the body of knowledge, and acting as a body per se to spread this knowledge to humanity, embracing idealism as a philosophy and uniting many disciplines under an overarching existence.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel: “We will continue to make contribution to science through scientific studies…”

Making a speech, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel, stressed that due to work carried out in scientific research and scientific publications, and the relative advancements, EHSRC Scientific Awards were to be given, which should be perceived as an honourable instance.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Günsel further added that universities were institutions which shape the future of communities and humanity. Additionally, he said that as Near East University had become established over 38 years, and that they were to continue to shape the future and contribute to the public on the island and to communities around the world.

Moreover, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Günsel emphasized that Near East University had made an attack in projects and scientific publishing; achieving the rightful approval and appreciation of many. He said: “EHSRC has its own specific role in the increase and development of projects and scientific publishing. In this regard, considering the achievements facilitated through this research centre, the Scientific Awards of EHSRC become more valuable and righteous.

The 2016 awards of Experimental Health Sciences Research Centre (EHSRC) were presented by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel, including the best publication Young Researcher Honours Awards to: Assist. Prof. Dr. Hatice Kemal for work in the field of Health Sciences; to Assist.Prof Dr. Kamil Dimililer, from the field of Sciences and to Assist. Prof. Dr. Deniz Özcan, from the field of Social Sciences.
