Near East University took its place in the 151-200 band, rising 100 steps compared to the previous year in the “Young University Ranking 2023”, where Times Higher Education ranks the best universities under the age of 50 in the world. According to this result, Near East University was also in the top five in Turkey.

“Young University Rankings 2023” published by the London-based higher education rating agency Times Higher Education has been announced. Celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, Near East University was ranked among the top 200 young universities in the world, in the ranking of universities established in the last 50 years, and evaluated according to 13 criteria across the world. With this result, the place of Near East University in the ranking has increased by 100 steps compared to the previous year.

According to the Times Higher Education’s ranking of the best young universities focusing on scientific research, universities are evaluated by all key indicators such as teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international reputation. The 13 performance indicators used for evaluation are divided into five main areas. While the learning environment provided by the university is evaluated in the teaching category, the number of research carried out by the university in the field of research, the income and reputation due to the research outcomes are evaluated. On the other hand, the number of citations showing the effect of the research, studies of the teaching staff, students and international views on their research and knowledge transfer from research to industry are also among the main evaluation criteria of the ranking.

Near East University rose 100 steps!
Standing out with its scientific productivity and projects that it has developed and transformed into products, Near East University, taking its place in the 251-300 band last year, rose 100 steps this year and took its place in the 151-200 band. Near East University, of which academics published nearly 1,700 scientific articles in 2022, produced half of the articles published by the TRNC universities by itself. At the same time, the Near East University, which has turned many projects into products such as the TRNC’s 100 percent electric car GÜNSEL, local PCR and Diagnostic Kits, protective nasal spray Olirin, artificial intelligence supported smart home and city systems, continues its rise in the list of research universities.
