As the third public primary school that the Near East Enterprises completed its establishment in just 20 months, within the scope of the “6 state primary schools in 6 districts” project, Dr. Suat Günsel Famagusta State Primary School was handed over with a magnificent ceremony to the Directorate of Primary Education Department of the Ministry of National Education to start education in September .

President Ersin Tatar, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Commander of the Security Forces Major General Zorlu Topaloğlu, former commander of the Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces, retired Lieutenant General Ömer Paç, Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı, Minister of Interior Affairs Ziya Öztürkler, Minister of Economy and Energy Olgun Amcaoğlu, Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Dursun Oğuz, many deputies, Turkish Embassy Famagusta Consul General İlyas Çetin, Civil Defense Organization Head Atilla Karaca and many guests attended the ceremony.

Dr. Suat Günsel Famagusta State Primary School was established on a land of 18 thousand square meters in Famagusta. There are 16 classrooms of 60 square meters, a computer laboratory, a fully equipped music room, administrative offices, teacher rooms and exhibition halls on the school campus. Dr. Suat Günsel Famagusta State Primary School also has a playground of 4,500 square meters. 60 artworks were placed in the interior of the school, which was afforested with 165 palm trees. During the construction of the school, 4,000 cubic meters of concrete and 6,500 square meters of parquet were used.

At the delivery and opening ceremony, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Near East Enterprises Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and President Ersin Tatar made speeches respectively. After the speeches, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Near East Enterprises Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, handed over Dr. Suat Günsel Famagusta State Primary School to the Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu.

Saying that it has been 20 months since the Günsel Family Board meeting, where they decided to establish a full-fledged Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary School with a capacity of 500 students in each of the six districts of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Near East Enterprises Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “We are happy to bring our third school, which we have completed in 20 months and delivered to the Ministry of National Education in Famagusta, after Nicosia and Iskele, together with the children of the country.”

Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “I want to evidently point out that these foundations we have founded we are handing over to our state and nation through our Ministry of National Education is just a small ritual for us. Because, not only Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary Schools, but the Near East Enterprises, from education to culture and arts, from automotive to industry, from health to tourism, from finance to technology; every nail we hammered, every foundation we established, every business we established belong only and only to our beautiful people who believe in this beautiful country and its future and derive its strength from its roots in this land for more than 450 years.”

Reminding that, during the week, in the production facilities of GÜNSEL, the domestic and national car of the TRNC, they conveyed the future projections of GÜNSEL by hosting President Ersin Tatar, Minister of Economy and Energy Olgun Amcaoğlu and President of the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry Ali Kamacıoğlu, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “Next week, we will host the esteemed ministers of our government members with our Prime Minister and share the future projections of our GÜNSEL.”

Referring to the future projections of GÜNSEL, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel saying that they have developed GÜNSEL’s first two models, B9 and J9, with their technology teams consisting more than 300 people, said pointed out that they carried out projects on engineering, software, prototyping and battery technologies in coperation with world giant companies and said, “This means that our Northern Cyprus now develops projects in high-tech fields along with the giants of the world”.

Reminding that the TRNC has an import-based economic structure, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel added that with GÜNSEL, which will start mass production within 18 months time, the TRNC will have a foreign trade surplus for the first time in 2029.

Referring to the investments that the Near East Enterprises are preparing to inaugurate in the Famagusta region, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “Today, we are bringing in a very valuable work that will touch the future of the children of our Famagusta. On this occasion, I would like to give another good news to the people of the region. Just 3 months later, we will be together again for new openings. On November 15, when we will celebrate the 39th anniversary of our Republic, right next to you, we will inaugurate our Near East University Faculty of Medicine Yeniboğaziçi Hospital, which we have just completed on the Near East New Boğaziçi Campus. On the same day, we will also open our Near East Yeniboğaziçi Grand Library, which will provide access to 750 thousand books and 850 million digital resources.

Prof. Dr. Günsel said, “These new investements; our schools that provide education at all levels from kindergarten to high school on the same campus; Halil Günsel Culture and Congress Center, which hosts many important cultural and artistic events, and our multi-purpose sports hall, which we have recently put into service with a closed area of ​​2 thousand square meters, will continue to be in service of the people of the region and the country.

At the end of his speech, celebrating Near East University Founding Rector Dr. Suat Günsel’s 70th birthday, Prof. Dr. Günsel said, “I would like to celebrate our Founding Rector, Dr. Suat Günsel’s 70th birthday, who has got more than a century of experience and wisdom into his 70-year life, and do wish that Dr. Suat Günsel Famagusta State Primary School Famagusta to be beneficial for our whole country, especially for the children of the region.”

Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu expressing his excitement to take over Dr. Suat Günsel Famagusta State Primary School in his speech, said that 3 of the 10 schools that have been brought into education in the last four years were Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary Schools.

Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu said, “Today, we are bringing the third of the full-fledged 500-student capacity Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary Schools into education life. These schools, which have facilities far above the country’s standards, will prepare our children for the future. Minister Çavuşoğlu said that Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary Schools received a high demand from the public, well above their capacity, and emphasized that these opportunities will meet with children in other districts with the Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary Schools.

Speaking at the opening of Dr. Suat Günsel Famagusta State Primary School Famagusta, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel said, “Today, we are putting into service the third of Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary School which will serve 500 students in Famagusta with its strong infrastructure and facilities. The schools we received will meet a very important need due to the increasing population.”

According to the university placement exam results announced this year, the number of students who preferred our country increased by more than 40 percent compared to last year. Near East University has once again become the most preferred university in our country. Despite all the economic and political negativities in the world, we continue to advance at full speed in the education sector. This picture gives hope for over future.”
