“Walled City Museum” foundation has begun

Near East University, which makes investments that will bring a different dimension to the cultural and artistic life of the country, ensure the integration of society with art, and increase the value given to art and artists, brings together art lovers with the “Walled City Museum”.

According to the information given by the Press and Public Relations Directorate of Near East University, the museum, which will be put into service with the restoration of the old Ziraat Bank building at the Kyrenia Gate with the initiative of the Günsel Family, which attaches great importance to the integrity of the society, will mediate the sharing of Cyprus' cultural identity with the national and international art environment.

The visitors, who will be visiting the museum which will be administered by artist Rana Amrahova, will experience the feeling of historical valuesg and will have the opportunity to experience the sense of commitment to their cultural roots.

Modern art collections will be brought together...
Rana Amrahova, Director of the Walled City Museum, said that the museum was founded with the mission of leaving sustainable traces that will inspire future generations with a sense of art that integrates with modern, contemporary and local culture, and by continuing interest in art.

Amrahova, at the "Walled City Museum"; there will be oil painting and acrylic paintings, original printing, engraving, linoleum, silkscreen, lithography, decals, photographs, sculpture, ceramics and rare works. Periodical and permanent exhibitions can also be viewed at the museum.”

The interior design of the museum, which will be one of the new art stops of art lovers, will have a unique visual feast and lead an important mission to protect our values. Using the gold dust on the museum ceilings, the Peace Operation made on July 20, 1974, and the Conquest of Nicosia will be depicted.

Rana Amrahova, stating that it has adopted the principle of conducting culture and art in integrity with scientific studies and social benefit-oriented projects since the establishment of the Near East University, pointed out that the Walled City Museum will has been projected to contribute to the raising of a generation that loves art, to create an environment for the growth of social integrity, to sustain the existence of the society, to accumulate the values it generates and to shed light on the next generations, and to promote the cultural, historical and social richness of Nicosia. Amrahova stated that, by using the integrative and unifying power of the Near East University for an inseparable integrity, the new museum will be another instrument of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to host a wide platform for the art representation and to bring a new momentum to the international common understanding. The Peace Operation made on July 20, 1974, and the Conquest of Nicosia will be depicted on the ceiling of the museum, and the traces of the past will be engraved with a visual feast, and the history will shed light on the past experiences of the society.

According to Amrahova, in addition, the museum visitors will have the opportunity to experience the phenomenon of belonging to their roots. Amrahova stating that the old Ziraat Bank building at the Kyrenia Gate has started to be restored and the museum has started to be established, said that the museum will have a very rich collection in terms of art.
