Exhibition of History of the Turkish Cypriot Struggle will be held on January 15th to commemorate the death anniversary of Dr. Fazıl Küçük, Former Turkish Cypriot Leader.
Art lovers continue to visit the ’Republic Day Exhibition’ consisting of 103 artworks created by 38 artists with different techniques at the Cyprus Art Center, which is affiliated to the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts founded at the Near East University.

According to the information provided by the Near East University Press and Public Relations Directorate, the event hosted by the Cyprus Art Center at the Atatürk Culture and Congress Center complex is being visited by art lovers with great admiration.

The Republic Day Exhibition curated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Ergün and consists of paintings, sculptures, ceramics, print paintings and photographs prepared through different techniques, will be open to visitors until Friday, December 22, 2018.

It is stated in a press info that the "Dr. Fazıl Küçük and National Struggle Exhibition" will be held within the scope of the history of the Turkish Cypriot struggle, ine memory of Dr. Fazıl Küçük and Rauf Raif Denktaş. on January 15, 2019, with the participation of both the Near East University and our country's artists.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hastürk, Director of Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts and Art Consultant to Founding Rector Suat İ. Günsel, stated that the struggle of the Turkish Cypriots has great importance. and the exhibition which is important for the history of our country and nation will be opened on January 15th and that they invite all the artists to contribute to the exhibition with available materials related to Dr. Küçük such as paintings, sculptures, photographs, ceramics and objects that belong to those struggle years.

Asst. Assoc. Dr. Hastürk said that the artists who wish to participate in the exhibition can get detailed information about the exhibition from the contact details below and that the works to be included in the exhibition will be recorded in the inventory of the National History Museum which will be opened in 2020 and will be transferred to the future generations.

Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul "Near East University realizes taking roots in this land and adopting this country duty of loyalty"...
The Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of the Near East University and the Director of the Science Board of the National History Museum., Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul, said that the Turkish Cypriot people have managed to survive in this land for the past 455 years, making a struggle to protect their roots, cultural values, and to pass their the legacy of history from generation to generation and that the Near East University is a result of this legacy and ongoing struggle that lasted for centuries.

Prof. Özkul referred to words of the Founding Rector of Near East University, Dr. Suat İ. Günsel who said "Make your roots more permanent every passing day, protect the values of this country and our nation so that our youth feel themselves safe and take power from their roots.", and said that it is the leading role of Dr. Günsel that motivated them in establishment of the National History Museum which will open its doors in 2020 and revive the Turkish Cypriots history of struggle with documents, visuals and other relevant data.
