Graduates of the Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine visited Anıtkabir before starting their professional lives, expressing their commitment to the values of the Republic in the presence of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Graduates of the 2025-2026 academic year from the Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, which is among the top 500 universities in the world, visited Anıtkabir before embarking on their professional careers.

The visit was realized by the Dean of the Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Dr. İsfendiyar Darbaz, the Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Beyza Ulusoy, and Prof. Dr. Vedat Sağmanlıgil, a faculty member from the Department of Physiology, along with 40 veterinary graduates. As part of the official program held at Anıtkabir, a wreath was laid at Atatürk’s mausoleum accompanied by a military ceremony. Following this, a moment of silence was carried out, expressing gratitude and respect to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic. The visit concluded with the signing of the Anıtkabir Special Register.

The message written in the Anıtkabir Special Register emphasized that it was a great honor to be in the spiritual presence of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and that Atatürk’s goal of modern civilization for the Turkish nation, guided by reason and science, continues to guide us today. It was noted that Atatürk’s statement, “The foundation of the national economy is agriculture”, reveals the strategic importance of agriculture, animal husbandry, and veterinary medicine for the country’s development and prosperity.

The message stated that veterinary medicine is not only a profession that protects animal health; it is also one of the most important guarantees of public health, food safety, environmental health, and sustainable production. It was also expressed the belief that young veterinarians graduating from Near East University will carry scientific thinking, professional ethics, contribution to production, and a service to humanity understanding, along with the values of the Republic, into the future.

The message concluded by underlining the commitment to carrying the legacy of the Republic further in the light of reason and science, and emphasizing that the responsibility of training veterinarians who will benefit their country, nation, and humanity will be continued with the same determination.
