At the reception where Minister of Health Dr. Ali Pilli, Minister of Economy and Energy Hasan Taçoy and Prime Ministry Scientific Board Coordinator Dr. Ahmet Savaşan were also present, Prof. Dr. İrfan Günsel presented 5 respirators (Ventilators) produced by Near East University to Prime Minister Ersin Tatar and introduced the device.

Prime Minister Ersin Tatar in his speech at the reception said; “The respiratory system (ventilator), which is a significant device needed to fight with the coronavirus, is now needed in our country as is the case in other countries." Prime Minister Tatar said that the government has taken the necessary steps to increase the number of these devices. He stated that Near East University's production of an alternative breathing apparatus in the fight against Covid-19 is a development that strengthens the health infrastructure of our state, and said that this development makes them hopeful. Prime Minister Tatar said, "We have not had any serious need so far, but on this occasion, we have already initiated these studies in order to take the necessary precautions in advance. Within the framework of these studies, 60 doctors and 70 nurses have started to conduct the necessary studies for these epidemic diseases. We now have some expectations. Our target is 150. We will have 150 ventilators in a very short time. If these devices to be produced here, they can meet our needs, of course, this will be an extremely important development for both TRNC and our Ministry of Health, so we congratulate the Near East family. It is true that we have experienced some difficulties due to the needs of the health infrastructure in this process that the TRNC has gone through. However, I am happy to say that our country has managed this process well and this success will play a big role in taking the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to the place it deserved in the world. Because in the new period, new opportunities will be created after Corona. The understanding in the world will develop and therefore, our country as a small island and its economy in terms of tourism potential, education and other fields depend heavily only on a good health system. We see that our country's economy can improve with our success in this process and strengthen our health infrastructures even more. Due to the pandemic in the world, we are saddened to have lost 86 citizens in England, one of the countries with the best health system. Once again, I would like to express my condolences to them and their families, I say, May God have mercy upon them. Besides, we see that the TRNC's health infrastructure is improving every day, which makes us happy. TRNC has achieved a very rich healthcare system with the investments made by the state in healthcare and investments made by other private enterprises such as Near East University Hospital in the private sector. Such developments help to increase the attraction of our country with such investments."

Minister of Health Dr. Ali Pilli, in his speech at the reception, thanked the Near East University and expressed his satisfaction with the fact that respiratory equipment (Ventilator), which is needed very much in the world and in our country, is now being produced in our country and emphasized that these devices will contribute to the development of the health infrastructure.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University Prof. Dr. İrfan Günsel in his speech said; “We have worked throughout days and nights with a very young team. Today, which is April 23, our National Day dedicated to children, I would like to remind us of a word of our Great Leader; “We don't need anything, other than being hardworking”. We have a young dynamic team working with this philosophy. We are ready to mass-produce the respiratory devices (Ventilator) that we have designed in a very short time. Today, we deliver 5 pieces to our Ministry of Health through our Prime Ministry. We will also be able to export these devices immediately after obtaining the necessary certification. The fact that such initiatives are capable of producing health technologies shows how important it is to be self-sufficient in such days when the world is closed down. We must be able to produce health technologies, we must be able to produce medicines, we must be self-sufficient with our motherland, and we have been working with this philosophy."
