Turkish Pharmacists Association gives Lifetime Honorary Award to Near East University Lecturer Prof. Dr. K. Hüsnü Can Başer

Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy, Head of Pharmacognosy Department Prof. Dr. K. Hüsnü Can Başer was honored with the “Lifetime Honorary Award” by the Turkish Pharmacists Association for his contributions to the pharmacy profession throughout his professional life.

The “Lifetime Honorary Award”, which the Turkish Pharmacists’ Association started to give in 2016, is given to those who work for the development of the pharmacy profession and professional association through the duties and responsibilities they undertake. This year’s winner of the “Lifetime Honorary Award” of the Turkish Pharmacists Association is the Head of the Department of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmacy of Near East University, Prof. Dr. K. Hüsnü Can Başer, who made great contributions to the pharmacy profession with the books, articles he wrote and projects he carried out throughout his career,

Prof. Dr. Başer, one of the first names that come to mind in the field of pharmacognosy and known in the scientific world for his studies on natural products, medicinal and aromatic plants and essential oils, added the Turkish Pharmacists Association Lifetime Honorary Award to the awards he received from many institutions throughout his professional life.

Who is Prof. Dr. Kemal Hüsnü Can Başer?
72-year-old Prof. Dr. K. Hüsnü Can Başer has published over a thousand articles in international refereed journals with the projects he has developed and carried out throughout his career. Having 142 congress papers and 61 books in his career, Prof. Dr. Başer’s books were also published in England, Japan and the USA. He is also the editor of Near East Pharmacy and Natural Volatiles and Essential Oils magazines. Under Prof. Dr. Başer’s supervision, 19 master’s and 10 doctoral theses were completed. Recently Prof. Dr. Başer made an important contribution to the profession of pharmacy with his first book written in this field, half a century later, with the book Pharmacognosy and Phytotherapy, which he wrote with Neşe Kırmızıer.
