The TURKCESS International Congress on Education and Social Sciences, previously held in Turkey, Azerbaijan, North Macedonia, and Kosovo, will be held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in 2026, and will be hosted by Near East University.
The 12th TURKCESS International Congress on Education and Social Sciences, one of the world’s leading international academic platforms in the fields of education and social sciences, will be held in Cyprus from September 3-5, 2026, at Near East University. Previously held in Turkey, Azerbaijan, North Macedonia, and Kosovo, the congress will bring together experts in the field in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus this time.
At the congress, which was last held in Gaziantep on September 18-20, 2025, it was announced that the next meeting would be held in Cyprus, at Near East University. The signing of the protocol was made official by Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ and Congress President Prof. Dr. Mehmet Engin Deniz. Prof. Dr. Umut Akçıl, Dean of the Atatürk Faculty of Education at Near East University, who chaired the organizing committee of the 12th TURKCESS International Congress on Education and Social Sciences, also attended the signing ceremony.
The TURKCESS Congress is known as an international academic platform that aims to promote knowledge sharing by bringing together academics, researchers, and students from various regions of the world, particularly the Turkish cultural landscape. Supporting original research in the fields of education, social sciences, and the humanities, the congress aims to strengthen interdisciplinary collaborations, contribute to the formation of new academic networks, and enhance the visibility of scholarly production. It provides a platform for discussion of contemporary trends, digital transformation, and human-centered educational approaches in line with the themes determined each year.

Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ emphasized the importance of TURKCESS 2026 being held in Cyprus, not only for the university but also for the scientific visibility of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Stating that “Science develops by sharing,” Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ said, “TURKCESS 2026, bringing together academics and researchers from around the world under the roof of Near East University, will make the TRNC a meeting place for scientific production.” He added, “TURKCESS 2026, which we will host, will expand the boundaries of knowledge production while also reinforcing the spirit of academic solidarity within the Turkish cultural geography.”

TURKCESS Congress President Prof. Dr. Mehmet Engin Deniz said, “Over the years, TURKCESS has transcended the Turkish cultural landscape and evolved into a universal scientific meeting platform.
