Traumatic Brain Injured patient, Eren Alpdoğan who had a motorcycle accident has been brought to life at the Near East University Hospital

It was announced that the sixteen-year-old, Eren Alpdoğan, was in a serious health condition; he was diagnosed with brain haemorrhage and reported to have a respiratory device attached at the health institution to which he was taken to. Three days after the accident, he was brought to Near East University Hospital with several fractures in various parts of his body and brain injury which caused health issues such as loss of consciousness and an inability to talk or walk. Specialist Doctor Hüsnü Koşucu from the Department of Brain and Nerve Surgery of Near East Hospital made a statement regarding the matter and expressed that the patient was kept in intensive care over three weeks and kept under close watch, and as a result of the treatment and the surgery applied, the patient had recovered his consciousness. Furthermore, due to the physical therapy and rehabilitation treatment provided, he had also gained his ability to walk and talk.

Eren Alpdoğan was brought to Near East University Hospital subsequent to a motorcycle accident he had in September and resultantly, he had diffuse axonal damage (DAI)which caused him to lose his consciousness. Additionally, he had several fractures in various parts of his body. Thankfully, after the treatment provided by the Department of Brain and Nerve Surgery of Near East University Hospital, the patient recovered his consciousness on the third day that he was brought to the NEU Hospital. Furthermore, it was explained that Eren Alpdoğan fully gained his consciousness in he second week of his treatment plan, and a moth later he was able to talk once again. Moreover, with the three surgical operations made by the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, followed by physical therapy and rehabilitation programme, he was currently in a mobile condition; and he is able to walk.

Eren Alpdoğan: “I would like to begin by thanking Dr. Suat Günsel, followed by all the doctors and personnel of Near East University Hospital who have helped me return back to my normal life!”
It was stated that Eren Alpdoğan was brought to the Near East University Hospital on the third day after his motorbike accident. He gave a brief statement regarding what he encountered and said that he was informed later that he had been brought to the Near East University Hospital when he had lost his consciousness and could neither walk nor talk. He further said that as a result of the treatment and surgery provided there, he had recovered. Furthermore, he stated that hi physical therapy and rehabilitation programme was still continuing and that he wanted to express gratitude to primarily Dr. Suat Günsel, who had assured that he was brought to the Near East University and all the physicians at the NEU Hospital for helping him to recover from his serious medical condition.

Specialist Dr. Hüsnü Koşucu: “Diffuse axonal damage was a common status seen as a result of traffic accidents and occupational accidents.”
Specialist Dr. Hüsnü Koşucu from the Department of Neurosurgery of Near East University provided general information about diffuse axonal injury; a serious health condition which can be encountered by a patient. He pointed out that diffuse axonal damage is seen as a result of high-speed traffic accidents and work accidents.

Treatment Process of the Common Brain Injury
Specialist Dr. Hüsnü Koşucu provided details regarding the treatment process of the common brain injury and said: “To provide oxygenation of the brain in the early period and slow the metabolism of the brain is the most effective treatment. For this purpose, patients are anesthetized with anesthetic drugs and connected to the respiratory device. Then a long period of rehabilitation begins depending on the proportion of the damage caused.”

Specialist Dr. Hüsnü Koşucu: “Until today, many patients who have been brought to the Near East University Hospital with widespread brain damage have all fully recovered”
Specialist Dr. Hüsnü Koşucu, stated that almost all of the patients admitted to the Near East University Hospital who had widespread brain injury was caused as a result of a motorcycle accident. He added that due to the succesful treatments applied, almost all had fully recoevered and left the hospital with great satisfaction.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Deniz Aydın: “A surgical operation was applied due to the several fractures in various parts of the patient and currently, his physical therapy and rehabilitation programme is continuing, and the patient is now able to walk easily.”
Assist. Prof. Dr. Deniz Aydın, from the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of Near East University, made a statement regarding the matter and expressed that Eren Alpdoğan was brought to the NEU Hospital on the third day after his accident. He said that although they could not intervene initially, they had observed that the patient had fractures in his left knee, welling in the right knee and curvature in his left arm. Furthermore, as a result of the radiological examinations, they had found that there were fractures in the left knee cap, right knee joint and left collarbone. He added that they had to wait for the patient to be in a better status before the operation was carried out. During this period, the patient’s two legs and left arm was plastered and suspended. He stated that when the general condition of the patient improved, they performed three surgical procedures for the fractures in his body during the same operation. Assist. Prof. Dr. Deniz Aydın ended his words by stating that the operation was successful and the patient was now able to walk, and his physical therapy and rehabilitation programme was still continuing.
