
The Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center will host Mozart’s “The Abduction from the Seraglio” opera, which will be staged free of charge in collaboration with the TRNC State Opera and Ballet Coordination Center, the General Directorate of the State Opera and Ballet of the Republic of Turkey, and the TRNC Presidential Symphony Orchestra.
The Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center will host Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s famous “The Abduction from the Seraglio” opera, which tells a story from the glorious times of the Ottoman Empire. The opera will be staged in collaboration with the TRNC State Opera and Ballet Coordination Center, the General Directorate of the State Opera and Ballet of the Republic of Turkey, and the TRNC Presidential Symphony Orchestra. The opera, which will be staged for two consecutive nights on Friday, January 31 and Saturday, February 1 at 20:00, will be free of charge for the art lovers.
One of the most important works in the history of world classical music, the opera “The Abduction from the Seraglio”, which was first staged in Vienna, centers on a love story. The famous opera, which Mozart composed under the influence of Turkish culture and lifestyle, has attracted attention as a classic that has taken its place on the world’s most distinguished stages since 1782. The opera will fascinate listeners with its humorous elements and impressive melodies. The opera, which will be staged in Northern Cyprus within the scope of the theme “Opera and Ballet Everywhere” initiated by the General Directorate of the State Opera and Ballet of the Republic of Turkey, will offer the audience an unforgettable experience where music and theater come together.
It will be presented in two acts!
The opera, of which orchestra conductor will be Ali Hoca and whose stage direction will be Cenk Bıyık, will be presented in two acts. The verbal texts of the opera will be performed in Turkish, while the musical sections will be performed in the original language, German. The leading roles are; Semin Dikmen Töre will play Konstanze, Erdem Erdoğan will play Belmonte, Zerrin Karslı will play Blondchen, Barış Yanç will play Pedrillo, Engin Suna will play Osmin, and Tuğrul Enver Töre will play Selim Paşa. Murat Menket will also serve as assistant conductor, Ufuk Gökhan Küçük will serve as assistant director, Esra Poyrazoğlu Alpan will serve as choreographer, Ozan Türkoğlu will serve as projection and supertitle applicator, and Bülent Kıvrak will serve as set designer.
