Things to be done for sustainable healthy aging will be discussed at the symposium to be held at the Near East University İrfan Günsel Congress Center on March 25

Increasing life expectancy around the world turns sustainable and healthy aging into one of the most important issues of our time. Near East University Faculty of Nursing will hold the “The First National Sustainable Healthy Aging Symposium” things to be done for healthy aging will be discussed.

A multidisciplinary approach is very important in the prevention of diseases, correct diagnosis and development of treatments in elderly health. Thus, the perspectives and evaluations of different branches will also be presented at the symposium; Current issues, practices and nursing approaches related to healthy aging will be discussed in all detail. On the other hand, up-to-date theoretical information and applications on the subject will be conveyed by experienced academics in their fields.

Elderly health will be discussed in every aspect!
The symposium, where Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ will be the honorary president, will be co-chaired by Near East University Faculty of Nursing Dean Prof. Dr. Ümran Dal Yılmaz and Near East University Faculty of Nursing Lecturer Prof. Dr. Nurhan Bayraktar.

In the first session of the symposium, which will start after the opening speeches, presentations will be made as follows; “Demography of the Elderly-Health Services in the Elderly” by Dr. Ayşe Aydındoğmuş, “Intercultural Approach in Elderly Care” by Prof. Dr. Candan Öztürk, Prof. Dr. Gülşen Vural will discuss the topics of “Life Period Wounded by Discrimination: Old Age”. In the second session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hülya Fırat Kılıç and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burcu Totur Dikmen will present “Evaluation of Polypharmacy in the Elderly Patient and Nurses’ Responsibilities in Drug Management”. Also, other presentations will be made as follows; “Health Promotion in the Elderly” by Assist. Prof. Dr. Ezgi Bağrıçak, “Falling Prevention and Exercise Management” by Assist Prof. Tuba Yerlikaya, “Nutrition in the Elderly” by Assist. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hoca, “Elderly Mental Health” by Assist. Prof. Dr. Samineh Esmailzadeh, and finally Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dilek Sarpkaya Güder will cover the topic of “Sexuality in Old Age”.

The symposium, which will continue throughout the day, will be open to the press and the public and will be free of charge.
